Thanks to everyone who stuck around until the very end. As of this morning, 3 days after A17 was released the server died (again). This time the motherboard looks like it's fried. Good timing, I suppose. I had set the server to PvE and only a few players, mostly friends were playing.

If the CPU is still ok I might bring it back long enough to have some fun with PvE. Good luck to all the players who have spent time here, this marks the official end of Zombie West.

The server was disgracefully shut down, this was outside my control but it was someone's doing. We got off lucky that only the map was wiped, usually the characters get wiped.

Long story short, the program I use for backups (Paragon) crashes every few days and I haven't been maintaining it for a while now. So there are no backups to restore to.

All admins have been removed. I am now the sole person with access to the server, log files, god mode, creative menu, etc.

Due to trust issues amongst the players and a shortage of reliable staff, the server will not be moderated going forward. I am bombarded by accusations of people hacking every time someone is killed or a base is raided, and the integrity of one or more of my admins have been called into question. Therefore it is just me now, and I don't have the time or desire to investigate every issue that pops up. The game is broken in many ways, we've tried to keep it running as smoothly as possible but it has required constant attention and intervention. That ends today.

Going forward I will restart the server if physics is broken, I will restore a region if it's corrupted, and I will investigate a hacker if someone sees them flying. Otherwise you are on your own. I will NOT be trying to determine if someone is aim-botting. Not only is there no good way to detect it, but admins can't even shadow players since A 16.0, they can't fly underground without their avatar appearing on the surface. Invisibility does not work either.

If you lose your backpack to a game bug, that will be your loss. If your bike gets stuck underground at a trader that will be your loss, I suggest slowing down near traders and not parking too close. If you are stuck in underground or in a wall, you will have to /suicide yourself. This is as raw as it gets.

If a trader is broken, post it in a discussion and I will get to it when I can.

Maintaining the server has become too much of a chore, regretfully its days are numbered. The server will not be continuing past 16.4, once A17 is released or whenever players lose interest it will be closing for 7dtd.

It's been a hell of a ride, I've met a lot of great people, and maybe some of you will follow us to the next game we choose to put onto the server. Running the server has always been a labour of love, but as time goes on it has sucked all the fun from the game for me and many of the admins.

If in the distant future all the wacky bugs are finally fixed and we get some proper support from TFP for MP and PvP then 7dtd might ride again, but I am not holding my breath. We will be looking at better supported games that are less taxing on us in the meantime.

After much delay, the server finally lives again. May it live long and healthy. As always, let me know if you encounter any trouble with the server. There should be about a 35 minute rollback from the time it went down.
