This site we have chosen seems to be the most promising. The records of this area indicate organic life was found just below the surface. Dead of course, but either this is an anceint burial ground, or the ruins of a great, fallen civilization! This shall be my magnum opus, and I will be remembered forever as the best archeologist the entire empire has seen!

A few days have passed and we have unearthed wonders. It seems there was an entire civilization that attempted to live on this planet in the past! It's not yet obvious why they failed, but it's clear that it was likely because they were not pyrosharks and therefore doomed to fail!
We've been working overtime to uncover more of this civilation. This seems to be the core of whatever this was, hence the organic life so close to the surface. Carbon dating dates the bodies back to nearly a million years. Obviously, evolution hadn't created creatures so refined as the pyrosharks back then!

I've been too busy to keep up with this journal as of late! Appologies to anyone from the future interested in hearing what happened next to the greatest archeologist in the universe!
Anyways, we've been digging up these ruins and it seems that these people were almost as advanced as us, remarkably enough. The ruins date back some hundreds of millions of years though! It's almost as though this entire planet is older than the universe. Obviously there's just something interfereing with our equipment! We've been picking up strange signals from down below. It's going to be quite interesting to see what secrets this planet holds!

We've gotten it working! It seems to be a hologram of some sort. Possibly a data log left here by the old colonisers! Perhaps we will even learn the truth about the OP myth and why it centers around this planet so heavilly!
As of right now we have no clue what this being is saying, but we're working on getting our translators working again. Whatever's down below us has been destroying our more sensitive equipment like a bulldozer running over a flower. We might even have to go back to digging by hand if we get too close to whatever it is that's destroying out stuff.

We've done it! We've found ruins so deep they're practically untouched by the chaos on the planet's surface! We've had to leave some of our equipment behind, and we're having to pump air this far down, but it will all be worth it to uncover this... anomaly that's been destroying our equipment! We've been calling it Roth Magnetic Anomaly 1, or RMA-1.
RMA-1 has been proving difficult to cope with, but more primitive tech still works fine around it. It seems to be even deeper than these ruins, so we're prioritizing exploring the place we've found.

As you can tell, they are obviously reffering to the RMA-1 anomaly. It seems to be quite powerful! And it might even give us a glimpse into the very beggining of reality! Obviously, we're still going to explore the ruins first, since it's clear they might lead us to the anomaly!
