Server UPDATE!

Alright, we're back in business! Gameservers.com has seemed to have corrected the connection issues fortunately. We had a little skirmish on the server today and aside from some player ping (which I think was their end, locationwise, not the server) everything went fine! We won't know how well it fairs until we get a better stress test on it though.

Here's a list of what I got done:

- I reinstated the admins
- Enabled admin end of round immunity
- Set up the AFK Manager
(Hopefully it should be working properly now; if not, let me know!),
- Added MGE Arena mode back in for those of you who wish to battle it out arena style
- I now have it to where medics can see the player they're healings ammo
- !robot is available for fun :)
- Made it to where admins can ban someone even if they try to disconnect from the server
- Bans/Mutes/Gags/Etc also persist after map and round changes

I also added a couple of little fun things, but I'll consider that a surprise! ;D

I do have some bad news though, I wasn't able to add HLStatsX:CE or GameME since both options require money for a subscription, or money for a dedicated server. GameME sounds a bit more sensible since it only costs $5, a dedicated server for HLStats however would start at $100.

I say GameME is probably the better option if we ever decide to go that route.

Other than that, we should be all set! Hopefully we can get some bodies in the server sometime soon and work on that Quickplay rating! See you guys in the server! :D

Sup guys! I just wanted to throw an announcement out there to try and motivate some interest in the server! We can't start climbing in the Quickplay queue without bodies in slots, so although I know it can be a bit slow, it's never going to get better if we don't make an active effort to make use of it!

I'm also in the midst of installing other things that people might want, one specific thing is stat recorders like HLStatsX:CE or GameME, but I need opinions!

If you have any other ideas of things I should install please let me know! Although I'm trying not to overload the server with too much junk, we've been having enough connection issues as is :/ (Gameservers.com is currently having issues with LA servers, hopefully they'll solve them soon..)

I'm willing to implement just about anything, but I'm still new to managing/installing on a server so I'm trying to do crowd-control so I don't cause the server to self-destruct as well, haha.

Chuckwagon and other are covering. If you check reddit, you'll see people getting viruses (the multiple people didn't have virus protection) and a people having their anti-virus stop an attack.

Yeh I posted about the ad virus on the skial forums. Chuckwagon said it was a small problem that had only gotten one complaint and it was on reddit, so I had to let them know it was widespread

From that Reddit Here's one of the last Skial Admins responses...

One thing to keep in mind is that the malicious ad seems to be sent out less than 1% of the time. It's a very small number of people who are going to get hit by the ad, and an even smaller number of people who are going to blindly run the applet required for the exploit to work.
We know it's happening, though. We're still considering other options, but right now all we can do is bite the bullet and keep running the way we are until we can find something better.
We're considering switching back to Pinion, but people were complaining about waiting to play. There was also an issue with Pinion ads causing Flash to crash and kill TF2. I think Pinion fixed that issue, but that was another reason for us switching away from Pinion
