[Wake] To Do List
  • Website. (Blogging, reviews, cool finds, webcomic, etc.)
  • Live streams on Twitch.
  • YouTube videos.
  • Gaming music channel.
  • Social networks. (Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
  • Consume excessive amounts of alcoholic beverages.

So, yeah. There's a lot of work and a long road ahead of us, but as a team, we can do great things together. We have to all do our part, though. #Teamwork.

Website: I'll be using Tumblr as my medium to create our gaming website. I've been working on a layout that transforms a conventional blog into a full-blown website. Tumblr will be a great medium for our site, as it's hugely popular now and will be a website within a social network, where reaching out to potential new subscribers and/or recruits will become easier.

Blogging is very popular nowadays. It would be great to cover things like current events, hype, conventions, etc. People love reading about that kinda stuff. I definitely wanna stay up to date in this area. Staying relevant and current with the industry is key to success and gaining an audience. Posting cool finds on the blog is also a must. Cool custom console/PC mods, awesome art, interesting gaming facts, etc. I mean, who doesn't like staring at pictures?

Regarding video game reviews, I only want to do positive reviews. That may sound odd at it's surface, but there's a method to my madness. Most gaming sites spend 90% of their time highlighting and knocking bad games. If you spend most of your time explaining to people why not to play games, it really hinders the growth and prosperity of the gaming community. Instead, I want to highlight all the great games out there, and all the reasons people should play them. Further, I want to do reviews that are not only up to date, but also obscure, retro games. Rather than be hipsters and knock the newer generations of gamers for not having played the great games from our youth, we should showcase them and get people interested and motivated to play the dated, but classic retro games, so that they can discover the roots of gaming culture.

As far as the webcomic goes, as an artist/writer, I've wanted to do one for a long time. I have some ideas floating around, but details are limited for the time being. I want to use this project, and encourage everyone else to as well, to sate my apetite for all different forms of media and art. Comics, music, writing, film, etc. This could be a great outlet for everyone.

Video: Twitch steams and YouTube videos are crucial to gaining a wider audience, as they're massively popular mediums for the gaming community. Further, there's tons of potential for large monetary gains within these two mediums. We could easily obtain Twitch donations and YouTube partnerships, should our content become well liked and take off. We could use these extra funds to purchase better equipment for guildies for higher quality videos/streams, and purchase games for guildies that have financial issues, so they can continue to stay up to date, and continue playing with the group. This is a super important aspect.

Music: Music and gaming go hand-in-hand nowadays. I'd like to make a YouTube channel for gaming music, with an aesthetically pleasing, game inspired, visual equalizer. Music will be showcased via YouTube, our website, and Twitch steams. Half of the purpose is to promote aspiring, upcoming musicians who share a love for music and gaming. We'll be posting great game inspired music, of any genre. I'm not just talking about remixes, but also original content. We scratch your back, you scratch ours. There's a lot of indie game developers out there that are constantly looking for great, new music to incorporate into their game. Getting your name out there could be the difference between working at McDonald's or producing music for video games and working closely with game developers. The other half of the music channel's purpose is to have all the guildies submit their favorite tunes to listen to while gaming, so I can make DJ mixes/playlists to upload for everyone to listen to while gaming. Eventually, we could potentially stream live, game inspired, DJ sets. Who doesn't love music?

Social networks: This is another imperative aspect of creating a successful community in gaming. Mediums such as Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, Twitch, and YouTube are exactly how you connect to an audience. You have to have personality, stay interesting and relevant, be sociable, be funny and entertaining, and always reach out to people. We don't want to push anyone away, so really good social skills are a must for this aspect. We want to be reachable. We want our fans to be able to hit us up whenever. This is one of the single most important jobs out there, when it comes to creating a community and gaining an audience. Our audience is 100% out there, we just have to reach out and find them. I can't even express the importance of utilizing social networks to their full potential.

TLDR: You don't get a TLDR. Don't be a d-bag. Read this ♥♥♥♥, fool. It's mucho importante. :eng:
