Maybe you already know this but there are two things in place that helps finding other players:
In the Walkover Folder (check your steam folder and from there steamapps/common/Walkover) there is an exe called GameWatch. You can start it and it sits in your Systray in the lower right corner where all those tiny icons are. If monitors all available Walkover servers and notifies you if someone joins a server. You can then start Walkover and join that game as well.
There is also the Playtime-Matrix: http://www.walkover.org/?site=playtimematrix It shows you by hour and day how much was played online over the last 4 weeks. The values are in minutes played by player. Basically hogher values indicate more activity on the servers in that time slot. It might not be a guarantee, but if you want to find other players to play walkover with you, you could try checking out the game during the hotspots in that matrix.
I'm the author of Walkover and am happy to see you organizing this. :)
If you have any issues with the servers not being available etc. feel free to contact me directly about it. I don't check them all the time. It might take a few days for me to notice any issues.
Greetings!
