Hail Hydra

With the aim of bringing together some of the most active members remaining on Cobalt, allowing us to continue developing as individual players, and as a group.
The outfit is being formed by [JEST] Xaniy, [VIPR] MartyJC, [MACS] Halospud, and [KAIN] Bocian.

Those who are coming along to create this new outfit have a similar vision, and desire to play the game with like-minded people that have similir levels of activity and skill.
Many people can offer different things to a primarily small scale squadplay based outfit.

The primary method of recruitment is through recommendation. The requirements give you a guideline for the basic level of player we are looking for, but that is not the only method of application.

The largest and most important quality we look for in our members is for those who have a strong desire to improve as players, and to create a culture of improvement in which they can flourish.

Launching on 4/12/2015, recruitment will be closed for the first week to all except those involved in the initial setup.

In a game that many people feel is dying, we would like to think that it still has some life left. Rather than struggling with declining activites and shrinking communities, we are keen to extend the life of the game for us by combining 4 very similar leaders from some of the most established outfits on Cobalt. We have access to more resources than any of us could have dreamed to achieve through merges, this includes 4 previous Serversmash platoon leaders, 9+ Serversmash squad-leads. Many core members who have played and are still interested in the smaller scale competitive scene (Lanesmash, PSBL events and other Jaeger based events).

I hope that those of you joining us will enjoy this new exciting chapter in our Planetside careers.

What's this?

For some reason we're signed up to this season of Outfit Wars (48 vs 48 vs 48 games on the Cobalt server but on a specific Battle Island called Desolation against other outfits.) The match sizes are too big for us, but by chance we actually have a nice opportunity.

We had about 7 players in our first game and just played to annoy BLNG, but on Friday at 19:30 UTC we have a match against VEP and 3EPG. It's very unlikely that any VEP players will actually be able to get on Desolation, so basically, we're facing 3EPG.

We don't need 48 players to beat 48 lobotomised Russian bot-people, we can probably do it with quite a lot less and if we win this game then we get through to the play-offs. That would be funny and potentially win everyone that plays an in-game knife.

How to participate

To play in Outfit Wars you need to have not played in this season for another outfit. If you have then you'll need to create a new Cobalt NC character on a new account. Message me the name so I can accept your application to H and level your outfit loyalty to rank 3.

Outfit loyalty rank 3 shouldn't take too long to level up. You get points for it by capturing or defending bases so just make sure you stay until the clock ticks down if you need more loyalty.

Loyalty can decline with inactivity so if you haven't played much for a while login and check what rank you're at. You might well be fine, you might need to play a tiny bit to be able to participate.

What we need

We need anyone that can play basically. Don't care if you're rusty, don't care what you're best at; there will be a role for everyone. Vehicles are key in matches on Desolation but we can definitely make use of infantry and pilots too. Whatever you're comfortable with.

Details

You can get to Desolation from the continent switching terminals or from the world map (not continent map.) It will become available shortly before the match. It's a mid-sized asteroid-based continent with loads of copy-paste, large indoor bases and good terrain for vehicle play around them. It allows construction pretty much anywhere I think.

The matches are an hour at most and more likely 30-40 mins, so it's not much time out.

Hydra's 3rd Birthday Rough Plans

The birthday is Tuesday 4th December so we'll do Planetside 2 ops that night at 19:30 for 90 mins or so then maybe switch to other games.

The obligatory drunk ops will be on Saturday 8th December at 20:00 so that people are free to drink. 90 mins to 2 hours of Planetside related drinking games and then maybe some BFV / PUBG / TS ear cancer after.

This time we won't be announcing it on reddit or anything like that. Feel free to bring non-Hydra people along just make sure that the other factions don't conspire to ♥♥♥♥ up our evening.

Also if bringing non-Hydra players, it's preferred if they're actually good at the game and even more preferred if they join in the drinking. Seriously, if you're the only one sober it gets old fast.
