In short, SEGA removed the ability to purchase the sonic titles for the genesis classics collection, and then almost immediately released a new game called "Sonic Origins". The sonic games for the genesis collection were all only a few bucks, or a few cents if you got them on sale, and the Sonic Origins game costs 40 USD. Not only does Sonic Origins cost a ridiculous amount of money for 20+ year old games, but SEGA decided to include kernel level spyware to the rehashed title. Sonic Origins now runs denuvo.
