So recently in the Steam Community, there has been a raise in amount of hackers, scammers and fakes.

These people will send you messages like:

"Valve is proud to present you with a free game <link to fake site>“

"Annual Steam game raffle, click here to see if you won <Link to fake site>"

NOTE: There is going to be variation of these messages, but you get the point.
If you get messaged by these people please copy their message and post it in a report. If you don't know how to report here’s how:


1.) Go to their Steam community page
2.) In the top right of the page there is a "Report Violation" button, click that
3.) then click the option for "User Misconduct", When filling in the text box say something along the lines of, "This user has sent me a fake link to a scamming site <"the message from them"> please ban this user's IP"

The biggest of these scammers goes by GiftFreeGame, and has already got a player in RTO, he did however get his account back. Other scammers (along with GiftFreeGame) will have multiple accounts and will have group abbreviation at the end of their name, most likely they will be groups that your in, and the biggest give away is they will have no games. If you are an Admin in a group you are strongly suggested to delete these players out of your group and have all members block them.

If you click a link from one of these scammers, don't fret, you can easily get your account back if you act quickly. Go to the Steam Support page and find "reclaiming a Hijacked Account"
