Hello everyone!!!

Many thanks to Rash92 for joining the Patrician 3 discord and very kindly giving me the ownership of the Group. He got ownership as the previous owner left the group and didn't notice until 2 years later! Given he did not play patrician a lot, he said he preferred to hand it over to someone who would more actively maintain it.

About me

So let me introduce myself briefly, although maybe a few of you might already know me. I have written a few extensive guides in steam about the game, and tend to respond to most of the steam forum questions that arise, along with the same 3-4 people that always do so too (E.g: AIP). I also created the discord for Patrician 3 near the end of 2019. Currently, as of the 17th April 2021, the discord has 628 members which for me is an incredible achievement considering this game is 20 years old.

The Discord

Currently we have English, Spanish, German and Italian language channels, although English and Spanish are the main ones. The discord contains channels for different languages as I wanted to bring the community together given the community is so small. There are also a variety of resources to help people with the typical resolution issues etc and other links / guides. I try to also have them in steam.

Overall patrician is not dead, the community is still alive, and growing roughly 100 members every 3-4 months. Recently, within the Spanish community in discord, we have been playing multiplayer every week for the past few months, which is quite nice. I am hoping we can do the same with the English community in the near future!

Patrician 3 HD

We are following closely the possible new release of the Patrician 3 HD by FX Interactive, the Spanish/Italian/Portugal distributor. We know they are currently working in Imperium HD remaster and are in the middle of their kickstarter, but Patrician3 HD is to follow. Hopefully we will see the beta coming within 2021/2022. We have also emailed them to see if they would be interested in working with the community.

What to do with this Group?

Well, I am not 100% sure yet. I have never joined a steam group before so I will investigate what is possible and typical in these. I am updating the variety of links in the main page like discord, and will try to update everything so our steam friends can also benefit from a nice Group where everything is in 1 place. I will also appreciate any suggestions!

I got given ownership automatically by being senior i think, didn't know what to do with the group so i've transferred it over to TheMaster1 , who runs the discord for patrician III.

Hey guys. My friend and I recently got P3 and would like to play, but we cant get multiplayer on internet working. We typed the IP adress given, but the computer kept giving the message that the server wouldn't respond or that all the slots were full. Any help would be great. Thanks so much.

As a personal favorite game of mine, I personally highly enjoy playing Patrician 3.

The sorrowful part is that the multiplayer generally causes some confusion as to getting the game hosted and such.


Well, i'm aiming to do a minor-scale revival of the multiplayer by hosting multiplayer sessions on a regular basis.

The planned time for the first session to occur on August 8th, which is this Saturday.

I personally don't have a player limit and anyone of any language/nationality is free to join-Just don't expect a reply if you write something in greek :P-.

As I've said, I fully enjoy Patrician 3 and look to revive a multiplayer group for it.


As for Rules for this game, there really aren't that many. I fully support hostile takeovers and hostile hogging of trade, we're merchants and we're proud!



#1-
Maximum of 1 player per home port, if there are more than 4 players, this rule is null and a maximum of two players are allowed in a single home port.

Reason:
Generally, the Patrician economy is sometimes easily disturbed. If there are too many people all making their income out of a single city, they could all collapse and thus cause the game to lose many of the players. To avoid this, I'd prefer to have players spread out slightly more to ensure the longevity of the game.


#2-
Player interest must be high enough to be willing to play for more than the lead session.

Reason:
I'm trying to set up an actual game of Patrician that will lead into the late game, not lead to myself and one other guy playing after the rest rage-quit because their skins industry got ravaged by a hostile ploy.


#3-
For this specific game, Piracy is banned.

Reason:
I honestly have no problem with the mechanic and actually frequently use it. The problem is that if a player invests a large amount into a ship that gets ravaged by it, they lose interest. This is the first game, in later games, sure, I'll be happy to allow it. For now though, it's best to get to know each other and get accustomed to a multiplayer scenario.





Aside from these three rules, there are no rules. You are free to be the beer baron, skin tycoon or the hemp puffer Luebeck for all anyone else cares. First come first serve is the Merchant code, survival of the fittest is our creed.

With new and old, come to join the revival festival of Patrician 3 that we all remember with pleasure. I have actually invested a above average amount of time into Patrician 3, though most of it is offline. I'm well enough to know how to host the game.

For new players, if you need pointers or advice, feel free to ask. At the very least i'll share my price map that I have in my head, as well as a few starter regions to play with.
