RIP bert. I can still vividly remember the last time we played together...

The date was October 5th, 2004. It was supposed to be a quick game. Back in the day, we were the kings of Nuke. We were beating the enemy 15:0 until... it happened.

We were rushing outside. bert threw his famous smoke to block out the garage. Worked every time. Until this day. An AWPer managed to peek through a tiny crack in the smokescreen we used to block him in.

He took one shot.

BOOOOOM!!!

3 of us. Dead. Collateral.

It was only me and bert left to complete the mission. Were we really going to miss the chance for our first 16:0?

We had made it to safety, but only momentarily. Standing in the stairwell, hearing the enemies approach from both angles left us petrified.

I looked at him.

He looked at me.

We both knew what was about to happen. He dropped his weapons, grabbed me, held me close and whispered in my ear something I'd never be able to forget.

"I tried so hard

He held his deagle between his lips, took a deep breath. It all happened so quick...

bert took his life before they approached.

In a saddened rage, I grabbed the deagle and got 5 steezy juan deags. But it meant nothing. bert wasn't there to see it. I did it for you buddy, we did it. the 16:0.

He disconnected and never returned online since that fateful day.
