NostalgiaGoggles.com Official Steam Group

Hey everybody, owner of NostalgiaGoggles.com here. As you are all well aware, NoGo's time as a streaming site has come and gone, and the site is no longer active. Though some of the community is still together, there is no need for the site any longer, and I am henceforth shutting it down once and for all.

I originally started hosting NostalgiaGoggles.com for the needs of others. Like many other regulars on the site, I was previously a member of another streaming site, Joowz.com. If you're unfamiliar, they were yet another streaming site of similar (read: poor) quality, with much of the same userbase.

One day, things started to get a bit heated between the manager of Joowz and the regulars, and people started getting booted out left and right.

As a fellow streamer on Joowz, I couldn't help but feel bad for everybody. I mean, hey, these guys were sort of like friends to me, and I didn't want to see everyone up and leave just because the site owner was having a bad day. So I shelled out for hosting and threw up my own site.

For the most part, things went pretty well for a while. We continued along largely as we had on the previous site, albeit with slightly smaller numbers.

Eventually, the push for streaming on 4chan is largely what attributed to the turn for the worse. Advertising the site through 4chan--our main source of viewers--was no longer possible, with the rise of strict ruling against posting stream ads on the site. Numbers diminished, and people started to lose interest in streaming, myself included.

...On top of that, a couple of our streamers didn't really pay attention to what was prohibited content or not, and we (read: myself) got kicked off of Twitch three entire times. I ended up making a deal with Twitch to get unbanned, which ended up resulting in the closure of the NostalgiaGoggles stream.

I doubt many of you will read this, but for those who do, I'd like to thank all of you who stuck around--and remain around--through the very end. You were all cool as shit, and I'd do it all again if it was really possible. But the time's come for everyone to move onto greater things, as all of you have.

NostalgiaGoggles.com has been deleted, and will soon be replaced by a small blog. The domain will eventually change, but once it's decieded upon, the old domain will redirect to the new one for a period of time. I plan to go through a lot of the hardware and software I've collected over the years, reviewing and detailing them for whoever may be interested. I'll also be regularly running my own Twitch channel, which will be posted at a later date on said blog.

If the stream dream is still your thing, and you loved the mediocrity that was NostalgiaGoggles, I do suggest you go to Joowz.com for a similar experience. I'm sure there's still entertainment to be had, but I've personally outgrown it.
