I think you'll find your game over before it makes any importance.My game is going to be done and lost in about 3 more turns lol. Already lost one city, and the other 2 will be swept away soon too. I can't even get units to protect

yeah - i think my game will be over very shortly.... i was surprised attack by one of the new units in BNW.. i'm pretty sure I'm gone in about 5 - 6 turns

I think the starting era makes a big factor too in the # of turns. Since we have most of the tech already, we can travel farther faster, and do more damage faster.

Most of the tournament games have now started. Please login to the GMR site and you can check your messages. It has a link to the game.

I had to make one rule change - and that is related to the timer. Apparently 2 player games cannot have a timer. We'll have to trust everyone will make moves; however, in the message I specified that if no move in 3 days, send me a PM and I'll try to reach the player. If after a reasonable time there are no moves still, then the player may get disqualified. This time frame will take into account if the player has been to the site, as well as how far along the other games are.

Remember - the purpose of a game is for fun. Lets keep it that way. Good luck everyone.

PS: the game with tommynt and kevanwithana has not been created yet as I can't find tommynt's profile name on GMR. I sent Tommy a PM on Saturday. Once he replies, then I'll create that game.

Once admin edits the games to start, I'll send a message. Nullmaster is setting the owners to the games via editing the save file. He did one so far yesterday, just waiting for 6 more (and there is one person I'm still waiting to confirm his GMR profile user id (tommynt)). I've created the save files and games for all but that one I mentioned for tommynt

thanks gertadam. any predictions anyone on which civ has the best chance ? Someone suggested poland due to the extra social policies - but.. i think when you have all the tech, and you find the folks this fast it won't have as much of an impact.

I've submitted one game - just waiting to confirm with the admin I did it correctly for them to edit. Once acknowledged, I'll do the rest.

ok. Using Random.org, I created a random sequence of the #'s from those that joined.

Now - as there are 19 teams, there needs to be eventually 3 byes - either all in first round, or one in rounds 1, 3 and 4. I've tried multiple bracket systems, and most seem to give the byes in the first round and then the next four rounds are normal. I'm going to follow it that way as well so it ended up with the following byes in the first round: basituldi, ekat2468 and kavalorireland. I know we all want to jump in and start playing, but this way the rest of the rounds are normal and no more byes throughout the tournament. You can see how it looks in the brackets. I'm going to start all the games for round 1 and round 2 that the names are confirmed
Because of the way the rounds have split up and not everyone plays round 1 according to the brackets, I've modified the starting era so that Round 1 and 2 are information so that everyone plays that way. I know this means that 3 people have to play the same era twice, but - I really didn't have a better way of doing it.
