Potentially cut down on smurfs in CS:GO

There's a blue icon up near the top left of the main screen on CS:GO when you log in. If you already have your phone details within Steam, you can check on your account details page, then you can sign up for this.

Obviously there's nothing stopping smurfs using a cheap PAYG sim to register on their alt accounts, but here's hoping the extra hassle will discourage people.

Valve said they will run this experiment if they have enough signups, although they don't state how many is enough.
