Linux Parties on Steam

By joining this group, you have agreed to take part in your very own, local Linux party! What is a Linux party, you ask? Very good question!

First, some backstory: Gabe Newell has confirmed that Steam will be released for Linux some time this year. For those of us who gained a sense of impending doom when we saw the various previews of Windows 8 and feel it is about time for an operating system to be what we want it to be, this news is a godsend.

Now that proper gaming can be achieved on Linux, it is time to throw off the shackles of upcoming, two-dimensional interfaces and embrace the future of PC gaming by grabbing a group of your closest gaming buddies (and a few not-so-close ones) and kicking every trace of Windows from all of your computers as you install your flavor of choice. Then revel in a weekend pure, unadulterating Steam gaming on a system designed by the people for the people.

And that is how you conduct a Linux party. To recap:
0. Put [linux-party] in front of your Steam alias until Steam is released on Linux.
1. Get a bunch of people and their PCs in one room/apartment/convention center.
2. Everybody install Linux. (Any distro that can run Steam is fine.)
3. Everybody install Steam.
4. EVERYBODY PLAY TOGETHER FOR A WHOLE WEEKEND.
