We want a Steam legacy client for Windows XP and Vista!

12th June, 2018, Valve announced that since January 1st, 2019, Steam will no longer support Windows XP and Vista.

After the update on February 1st, 2019, Steam is no longer working on Windows XP and Vista.

Meanwhile, there are gamers out there who still use these operating systems either on their main or secondary machines.

After such a turn of events these gamers can no longer play the games they bought through Steam on the machines which previously qualified for the task, the only obstacle to run the games that work on XP and/or Vista on these machines is now being the Steam client.

Valve did not announce that they have an intention to give these gamers a legacy client which would allow them to access their games on now unsupported by the main client platforms.


While we understand that gamers with modern hardware and operating systems deserve all the features these can provide, we still can't see the reason why we can't be left with a legacy client to access the games we have paid for on the machines that can run these games without problems.

We don't ask for much - just the access to our game libraries. We can live without social functions, store browser and access to the financial information about our accounts. We just need the most basic program shell to download and play our games.

The idea of a legacy client is far from being new - both Origin and Uplay clients have legacy versions for Windows XP and Vista.
