jing is short for jieuni or jingni (IU’s real name is Lee Jieun) and jjang means 'the best’. IU first referred to herself as jingjjang in her posts on dc gall. After that, iudotcom made a jingjjang mic for her when she became a part-timer at Yoo Inna’s radio show too.

Does IU have a Twitter/Facebook/Instagram account?
IU no longer uses her personal Twitter account. Her agency manages her official Facebook, Twitter and Youtube pages. She also started using Instagramin 2015.

What does “dlwlrma” mean? 
Type 이지금 using a korean keyboard but in English mode.

What does “이지금” mean?
IU’s real name is ‘이지은 (Lee Ji Eun)’. ‘Eun’ can mean ‘silver’ as well and she mentioned during the Palette Epilogue film screening that her friends used to call her ‘이지금은통 (Lee Ji Gold Silver Bronze)’ when she was young, so that’s how she came up with the name ‘이지금 (Lee Ji Gold)’ for her instagram. ‘이지금’ also has a double meaning of ‘right now’, so it was used as the song title for one of her tracks on the Palette album.

What is IU’s favourite number and colour?
She said a few times that her favourite number is 8 and her favourite colour is purple / light purple (it used to be blue and yellow).

What does Uaena mean?
“You”(U) is from English, “ae”(爱) is Sino-Korean for “love”, and “na”(나) is Korean for “me”. IU’s fancafe used to be called Uaena and over time, IU fans were called uaenas.

Why are IU fans also called biscuits or star candies?
IU said on her fancafe that male fans are 건빵 (geonbbang or biscuits) because that’s her favourite snack and female fans are 별사탕 (byeolsatang or star candy) because IU used to have very few female fans, just like the rare star candies when you buy a pack of biscuits. Also, antis are milk.
