ABOUT L4D Banned in oz

Well folks, it looks like the edited version will receive an MA15+ rating. Valve have given the censors a way out of letting us play the original game. Now of course the 15year olds and older can now play the game, also we will only be able to play with gamers who have the same version as us. All I can say is crap, why cannot mature adults play the game as it was intended to be played???

In response to Darkprophet, Valve did make a censored demo for Australia.(And most likely Germany, probably the same one.) Theres a few youtube vids of some playtesting from when Gabe Newell came to Australia and it shows a few of the things that've been censored. I assume that it'd be the same demo that's going to be released next week. =/

This means that unless Valve produce an amended Demo, will will not get access to the Demo coming out soon, also we will only be able to play with people that have the same version as us.. There is no reason why we cannot have a "R" rating in Ozzie, As you can see the mention of access by minors seems to be a strong reason for the ban, why then do they bother having catagories at all, are they saying that minors can get their hands on "R" rated cames, but not "R" rated movies.. What a lot of crap, their reason for the ban has more holes than a mile long fishing net. I wonder if they are going to ban utube videos showing game play of L4D2?

A copy of a letter written by Michael Atkinson, explaining his reasons for not supporting an "R" rating for video games, can be read at - http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/20/atkinson.gif - He mentions the regulation of children going to the cinema to see MA15+ and "R" rated films, but conveiniently forgets about the DVDs available for rent and purchase from video stores abd other outlets. His weak reasons just do not make sense, in my opinion. What do you think?

The Board will not meet until 22 Oct. to make a decision. Now that Valve have offered a watered down version, I guess that is the one they will release here. http://www.classification.gov.au/www/cob/find.nsf/5b6ebdff7f5b9a24ca2575ca00062226/981b9f23b74dbc0aca2576480057fedc!OpenDocument

So far its good for an MMO, u have to actually aim ur weapon to kill. You can play in FPS and third person view, just by zooming in and out. If u r a MMO fan then I highly recommend it, tho atm the only server is in the USA and it can get laggy. will be great when they get an sussie server. It has a monthly fee of $14US.
