How to Report a Bug
Use this discussion to report any bugs you may find within Steam In-Home Streaming. If you have an idea or a feature to suggest, please post it in the Feature Requests sub-forum.

First make sure your issue is actually a bug. A bug is:
  • Any error in the program that produces an incorrect or unexpected result
  • Caused by a mistake in the coding or design of the software
  • Different from a feature you’d like to see added to the program, which you should instead share in the Feature Requests sub-forum.
To report a bug:
  • Only report one issue per comment in the discussion. This allows us to identify and track each issue uniquely.
  • Always identify the issue, what you were doing when the issue occurred, what happened as a result, and what you instead expected to happen
  • Include the operating system and version you are running
  • Include the list of steps you took as the bug occurred
  • If you’re able to host a screenshot, include one if you think it might be helpful
An example bug report:

ISSUE

STEPS
  • Select LIBRARY from the main menu
  • Select ALL GAMES
  • Select Left 4 Dead 2
  • Navigate to LINKS & MORE
  • Select Game Store Page
RESULTS
I’m taken to a game page on the store, but it’s blank.

EXPECTED
The Left 4 Dead 2 store page details should be displayed.

Got a bug report here. I attempted to stream half life 2 from my linux machine to my windows machine, but the game crashed won start. I then tried starting the game first on the linux machine, then once it had loaded to the menu I started streaming in windows. The made a brief bit of noise from the game then it crashed. I have a log from the linux side available here:

https://gist.github.com/zman0900/3b5f606dd1a0dbdc5ae0

This starts just before I started the game, and is marked when I started windows streaming. Here are the relevant machine specs:

Linux:
OS: Arch Linux
Kernel 3.12.6
CPU: intel i7 ivy bridge
Video: Geforce GTX 260, nouveau - Mesa 10.0.2-1
Monitor: 2560x1440 (game runs at this resolution)

Windows
OS: win 8.1
CPU: intel i7 ivy bridge
Video: ATI radeon hd 7850, catalyst 13.12
Monitor: 2560x1440

Seems like this could be a problem with the nouveau drivers. Streaming works pretty well in the other direction, although I've only had a chance to try other games, not hl2.

When deactivating hardware decoding everything works fine.

Client: Windows 8.1 x64
Client Graphics: Intel HD 3000 (newest drivers)

STEPS
Start Sine Mora from Client, see that Hardware decoding is enabled.

RESULTS
Error Message 'Client was shutdown unexpectedly (2)'.

EXPECTED
Game streaming as intended.

Streaming does not work correctly on The Wolf Among Us Ep 2

OS
Windows 8.1 & SteamOS

STEPS
Start Streaming TWAU from Windows 8.1 system onto Steam OS.

RESULTS
Error Message "Couldn't connect to the remote computer".

If however you start TWAU on the Win8.1 system and then start the streaming from the SteamOS machine, it will stream the game but not react to any inputs (Logitech F710+ Controller connected to SteamOS machine). The game itself does detect an Xinput device (it shows the button icons in the menu etc.)

EXPECTED
Streaming working as expected and Logitech F710+ Controller being recognized

ISSUE
Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet (ITSP) loops the first frame of the game every second or so on top of the game once launched.

OS
Windows 7 on both ends of the stream.

STEPS
Launch ITSP via streaming. Happens right away.

RESULTS
ITSP's first frame (Microsoft Game Studios logo) will flash every second or so continuously while the rest of the game runs as expected. I left it running for a while and it never stopped. Input works fine, framerate seems fine. The flashing isn't visible on the source machine.

EXPECTED
No flashing!

ISSUE
The streaming game is not always opened to a full screen desktop window. (Refer to Mac and desktop screens)

The mouse disappears when switching desktops (on Mac computer).

OS
Host: Windows 7 x64
Client: Mac OS X Mav

STEPS
Start steam streaming on Mac. Sometimes the window doesn't go full screen right away, and I cannot change it without quitting the game.

When DOTA 2 is started via streaming, the mac's cursor will sometimes not be visible. To rectify this, go into steam overlay.

RESULTS
Window is not full screen, binds mouse to streaming app on Mac. Makes it difficult to see the game and restart steam.

no visible mouse unless I go into steam overlay.

EXPECTED
Streaming app to go full screen, and have mouse freely available to move around outside the streaming window.

Mouse to be visible
