This starts just before I started the game, and is marked when I started windows streaming. Here are the relevant machine specs:
Linux:
OS: Arch Linux
Kernel 3.12.6
CPU: intel i7 ivy bridge
Video: Geforce GTX 260, nouveau - Mesa 10.0.2-1
Monitor: 2560x1440 (game runs at this resolution)
Windows
OS: win 8.1
CPU: intel i7 ivy bridge
Video: ATI radeon hd 7850, catalyst 13.12
Monitor: 2560x1440
Seems like this could be a problem with the nouveau drivers. Streaming works pretty well in the other direction, although I've only had a chance to try other games, not hl2.

STEPS
Start Sine Mora from Client, see that Hardware decoding is enabled.
RESULTS
Error Message 'Client was shutdown unexpectedly (2)'.
EXPECTED
Game streaming as intended.
Stream stops on Linux. Input still works.
OS
Host: Windows 7 Intel i5 4GHz, AMD HD7970 13.12
Client: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Core2 3GHz, AMD HD5400 Series (latest driver)
STEPS
Start any game stream. (Tested TF2, Sims 3, Dishonored, Sleeping Dogs, GRID 2, NARUTO SHIPPUDEN: UNS3FB, Kingdoms of Amalur)
