Tartarus or Tartaros is both a god and an underground place name in Greek mythology. According to the famous poet Hesiod, it takes nine days for a heavy iron to fall from heaven to earth. According to the poet, after another nine days, Tartaros is reached, which is located at the bottom of the underworld, the furthest from even Hades.
