The Election Results are Announced!

THE COUNT has issued a public statement on the results of the first general election. The royal spokesperson wrote, 'His Illustriousness wishes to pass on his congratulations to the elected Delegates,' welcoming them into the world of politics.

'Recognising the duty of His Illustrious from the Constitution,' it went on, 'he shall duly appoint a Congress of State.' He made clear that the Congress shall be led by a Chief Counsel appointed from the Chamber of Delegates to ensure the best form of governance comes from varied backgrounds.

What is being dubbed the 'Gioacchino II Compromise' (Gioacchino II Compromesso), The Count has agreed that his selected chief ought to be able to command the most confidence in the lower house. He has therefore written to all faction leaders inviting them to present a proposal to him that they can secure the largest amount of Delegates to back the Congress.

Failing a majority, the royal spokesperson has confirmed that it is the intention of The Count to appoint the leader of the largest faction, whomever can command most Delegates.

Recognising the urgent need for a Congress to form, and thus the start of an advisory government, The Count has appointed Genesio Caro, the commanding force of the Scettri conservative group as Acting Chief Counsel, until such a time that a different proposal is received and accepted. Scettri bring the largest amount of Delegates.

Under the Compromesso, it is down to Acting Chief Counsel, Mr Caro, to advise The Count who should be appointed to the other consulships in the Congress of State. Counsel for the Treasury is most likely the most important appointment to be made.

As campaigning came to a close, Hautevillians from across the nation headed to the polls to have their voice heard in government. Most voters had the option between three emerging factions: the conservative Scettri, the reformist Sarti, and the liberal Mercantilisti.

With the polling closed and the results certified, the Office of Elections Counsel has reported the following outcome:

1. Scettri: 96 seats
2. Sarti: 93 seats
3. Mercantilisti: 71 seats

The Office specified that the provincial distribution was as follows:

Hauteville-la-Guichard: 52 seats
1. Sarti: 29 seats
2. Mercantilisti: 17 seats
3. Scettri: 6 seats

Hauteville and Scaila: 87 seats
1. Mercantilisti: 44 seats
2. Sarti: 27 seats
3. Scettri: 16 seats

Forza d'Agro: 78 seats
1. Scettri: 35 seats
2. Sarti: 33 seats
3. Mercantilisti: 10 seats

Badia di Cava: 21 seats
1. Scettri: 21 seats

La Trinita: 22 seats

Of course, the government serves at the pleasure of His Illustriousness the Count. How he selects his Chief Counsel and other counselors after this outcome will set a precedent.

Soon, the newly-elected delegates will take their seats in the Camera dei Delgati for the first ever session of the Palatinate Diet.
