Half Life oz Deathmatch

Oz Deathmatch has been a faithful standby for deathmatch players for well over a year, and is still being improved. If you're a server admin who would like to tweak one or more aspects of standard Half-Life Deathmatch, look into Oz. Best of all, it's still server-side, so if you're thinking about trying an Oz server, you don't have to download or install a single file. Just join the server and have a good time.

Oz Deathmatch's original form simply added a grappling hook and allowed the server to play around with the weapon value for deathmatch, including clip size, damage, ammunition pickups and maximums, etc. Since that first release, more options have been added, along with one major alteration to the gameplay beyond whatever the administrator sets with the configuration files. The rune system started with just a few special power-ups and then slowly grew to the runes list that you'll find today. Each player can carry one rune at a time, and can discard it if they're so inclined. Available runes include regeneration, vampire, low gravity and haste. One of the best features about Oz DM has always been the fact that it's a server-side mod, which means that you don't need to download anything to play it. Currently, Oz Deathmatch works on any deathmatch map for Half-Life, but a fully-fledged Capture the Flag mode is in the works, with an optional map pack expected to be included with the next version.
