I was not able to set up a recording for some technical reasons. Will try to show it in another way.

You could add CrazyBump for normal maps (not free sadly), and GMAD for addon management, as well as link for Blender SMDTools. Mari for texture painting (not free either). Normal map and bumpmap tools for Photoshop or Gimp could be also useful. HLMW has some very powerful applications when creating ragdolls, you can even create and modify your QC.

The collision mesh is a very simple mesh. It cannot have holes or detail in it. You ahve to set up the collision mesh from separate objects. Otherwise it will create a solid filled collision mesh. Look at my drawing reference, on the top you can see I made 5 separate objects for the collision. Because if you make 1 model for collision, it will "shrinkwrap" the collision model, and you end up with a solid collision box. Each wall of the tent has to be a separate rectangle in the collision, the top has to be separate, everything has to be separate. Then you put them into an object group, and export it. And that will be your collision mesh.

You may also want to try the software called GMAD. It is for creating, publishing, and updating Gmod Addons. Nice graphical interface, and easy to use.

-Select all collision parts (the parts which is shown on the top part of the image)
-Add them to a group in blender so they are in the same group
-Export them into an .smd file
-In the compile qc file set:

$collisionmodel exportedobject.smd
