Just had a crash myself a bit ago. Not using anything third party to run it. Was activating the dud fireworks in Yusnaan when the game crashed.

Most Cactuars are useless against late-game opponents and bosses, and Giant Cactuar is one of those as well. It has no useful innate commando passives, it uses ruin against aerial units, and is overall worse than the smaller version, despite the 100 ish extra attack. I mean, it is a cactuar evolving. It shouldn't get less useful, should it?

I understand your concern about balance, but my main concern was the more focused units, or at least the ones that people will look for. Caius is absolutely insane. No rav comes even close to his skillset and stats when he's buffed up. It almost feels like you're cheating when using him. Vanille is an amazing Sab as well and definitely the top choice in that group.

In my eyes, people will probably see the Giant Cactuar as a waste, since you're basically making the cactuar worse, and if you need a Com with other traits, Chichu is right there.

Hence where it comes into play when you get them. Giant Cactuar can be gotten as early as chapter 3 in the game. Vanille and Caius you can only get after you beat the game once and start doing end game stuff.

Oh, very nice! That helps blend the character into the environment much more and he doesn't look like he's jutting out his chest anymore. I don't really see anything in the way of things to fix, personally.

I haven't made much in the way of progress with Faris at the moment, but I'll try and see if I can't incorporate some similar changes.

I'm wanting to completely redo pretty much all of her sprites to fit her more masculine demeanor. It felt weird to me that they had this plot for her that she's basically meant to be disguised as a man, and even feels uncomfortable when forced into a dress and such. Then you go and play with her in battle and costumes such as Mystic Knight have her in a bikini.

First, I'm gonna attempt to at least get the default sprite to more closely match the Amano concept art, though.

I'll try out PaintNET, I guess. I just worry about the undertaking I have planned.

I've wanted to work on completely redoing Faris' sprites, but the lack of artistic ability and image editing software has prevented me from getting started.

Not to mention, I was holding off to see if someone was going to restore the original sprites first, read an article about how to do simple upscaling that you then tweak via an artist to make much cleaner sprites that don't defy the original intention.

My number one most wanted mod is cleaning up of the menus in battle, similar to the FF3 mod. It's distracting trying to look in areas that I'm not used to looking in for commands that I'm entering.

The png-to-dat stuff is going to create a plethora of cool stuff, one of which I'm considering working on myself, but I'm lacking in image editing software at the moment.
