Dogs of war.

RULES

1.Always respect and comply to the Alpha-dog. Likewise to the seconds.
2. Always wear the clan tag!
3. Always stay tuned, read up and participate on our info.
4. Follow the guidelines.

Every Dog have to agree and submit to the rules.
You are expected to sign in on the pages frequently and asap. The minimum is to say a woof.

History in short:
The clan was founded some years ago by DOGs/Siouxperior (now DOGs/Sioux) and DOGs/Grunster (who has been offline for a long time). We had worked up experience from some other clans and had become aware of what we wanted and not wanted of qualities from clan members. Sioux has been on ql since early 2009 and was registered as the 2nd most playing quaker in the world on old ql.
Palm came in to the clan long time ago and was the clan owner of the biggest clan (yquit) with over 2000 members and also in the top as one of the most playing quakers on the same list. Together a lot of experience! DOGs/Kravter has come in as an unexpendable resource on tech support and other qualities and are therefore a General together with Palm. These 3 are the board.

Ahead:
The goal is to still have a clan working after model of the old ql. (The old ql was the real deal ….steam is a down grading from that….here we have to build everything up again on our own -or just live in the nuked ruins of the old ql). If we don't make this work...ql will slowly die down to some marginal activity.

Having a clan works differently on steam than old ql.
In old ql all power was on the leaders hands: server, expenses, setups, etc

On steam: Clan is one part. Server is one part. Research and tech is one part. Setup and managing dogs pages is one part. Financing is a part. Innovative thinking and implementing is a part too. + more.
All parts together makes it work somehow here on steam but contrary if one part doesn't cooperate it has capability to sabotage the whole construction. It is therefore utterly important that we do have a leadership to coordinate all and that all parts willingly work together. Rebellious tendencies have to be kept under control.
All parts are replaceable, so let it be clear that the clan itself as a brand is the part that the Alpha-dog maintain and as the leader need the overview and true knowledge about every aspect of the clans parts to ensure the hole construction works (and working together).
The Alpha-dog and the Generals are working in the background on many fields so don't expect to be fully informed about everything at all times. Best way to get informed about changes or other things is to read up on on our pages: DOGs/ of War 1



Guidelines: What DOGs/ stands for:

-We are a group of friends and want to be picky about who we let in.
-It has to be order.
-We only want well behaving members.
-We like to have fun. Fun above skill, but skill is nice too.
-Dogs are friends and greet each other and say goodbye when leaving.
-Dogs are one pack but there is a ranking within the pack too, and members will have to comply to the leaders.
-If a dog is unhappy about something – talk to a leader.
-Always bring up issues internally in order to have them dealt with and not in public!
-Stay updated and tuned on our dog-pages! You can also discuss ideas there for the leaders and others to consider. The Steam life requires use of those pages.
-Make sure to maintain good reputation....do not smear the DOGs clans name!
-A requirement is to ALWAYS wear the clan tag! Preferably permanent as part of the steam name! If not... -you ALWAYS need to wear it somehow anyway! If you don't, we will see it as you are not as dedicated as you should be….and probably don't belong in DOGs clan. Make your mind up before entering the clan.
We only want dedicated members who are proud to be dogs! «Shoppers» will be dismissed, and not wanted in the first place.
We want happy members who are sure they want this and will stay.
-Do not mess with the tag!

True Dogs:
-You can only be member of one clan – DOGs/. (We had a few exceptions for clan owners in old ql in the past, but DOGs clan had to have first priority in order to be member). In Steam we will not allow double memberships. You will have to make a well considered choice upfront to be accepted.



Tags
We will use the original tag as it still is the real deal and good looking identity of the dogs, but we also introduce some new distinctions.

The Golden Pack is the hardest core of the Dogs who has been with the pack through times and trials and proven their loyalty and devotion, normally they have been playing frequently and stayed tuned the way the leaders want it, they have complied satisfactory.
They will be distinguished with some yellow in the tag.

Some eligible dogs may still have something to prove, so make sure to help removing any doubt.

The Alpha-dog have to approve your tag and will tell which tag belongs to you and when the time is right and will then paste the tag in to your chat for you to copy and paste in to the steam name.

You hereby agree to that if you get kicked out of the clan or leave on your own you can no longer use the tag.


The tags

Members: DOGs/ the original

Golden pack: DOGs/ original but the “s” is golden(yellow)

Server hosts: DOGs/» original + quotation mark in red (“s” yellow if fully tuned in)

Seconds/Managers: DOGs/* original but “s” is golden + red “star” (asterisk)

Leader/Alpha-dog: DOGs/* original but “s” is dark blue + golden “star” (asterisk)



Criteria to be regarded golden:
A dog that always respect and comply to the alpha-dog. Likewise to the seconds.
A dog that always read up and participate on our info.
A dog that don't twist the orders given.
A dog that play a lot and prefer to do so on our servers. (Be welcome to play on other servers too, but wear the tag and be a good ambassador).
A dog that always use our tag and don't mess with its appearance.
A dog that ensure easy availability for dogs communication.
A dog that do his/her best to give dogs good reputation.
A dog that are friendly and well behaving.
A dog that always greet when arriving and say goodbye when leaving.
In the end: A dog that are merely a pleasing dog causing no extra worries!
This must be shown over a fair amount of time.

Dear Dogs

First of all I want everyone to give a comment below , that way we can see if you have read this and when. Even if you just write "woof" will be fine.

I mentioned before in a comment that we as dogs are shaping our future these days, that we are hardening our core, meaning the ones who participate and "play well along on DOGs team" gets welded together to be a "golden pack". WOOF ! We will as soon as we are more settled let the clan grow a bit and then it really matters how well the core is welded...

It has been a real challenge to try to recreate conditions as we knew them from old ql. That we could have a server as DOGs home and have fun in our ways and on our terms.
Thanks to Aspens server (Germany) we always had a place, and thx to Chicken (Denmark) we also had a place at times.
These 2 servers are two different kind of servers.

The german server (Steam dedicated = under steams policy) has limitations and we have tried to manually manage it on our terms but it's very hard and difficult to do, especially if there isn't an admin or more there at all times to keep it under control. Besides, it gives us a bad reputation! We can not live with bad reputation and to be yelled at when we go to other servers...that is so uncool!

The danish server is a dedicated server in private ownership (Chicken) and we have all options. Therefore we have installed minqlx on it and auto-hc and fun plugins etc. This together makes it run with little need for admins to do much and we can enjoy gaming without earning bad reputation.
It has been hard work to get to this point but it is now getting very satisfying.
It cost Chicken quite a bit of money to keep it running day and night all year (it is also a big server). So we started some effort to help chicken with some costs in order for him to keep it going 24/7 . He has started to let it run on those terms. More work is to be done till we have shaped it all, but at least we are on the track.
This opens up some new options and since our concept and popularity on this server makes it overly filled most of the time I think it will be a good idea to install a second "server" hosted on the same computer...a copy of the one we have to increase the capasity and give Dogs consept even more weight.

The german server I think we should stop manually managing as a t3 server and rather let it be a mixed tier server - not the least to stop us from getting increasingly bad reputation! Aspen has renamed it GOOD LUCK. This way we can in the future more easily distinquish it when we talk about the servers.
Some of the dogs will still prefer to play on the german server due to location and ping issues.
The Chicken servers will have fun-plugins etc and will be called the fun servers.

The true dogs and golden pack will always wear the tag in their name and most of us are doing so :D
Never the less we will get tougher on those who don't! They give a message out that they have other priorities which differs from the golden pack and will soon get stripped from their priviliges as op's and maybe more...we will see...

There are some outsiders that wish to have double membership with us. We can like many other clans not accept that unless we find a smart solution for it...maybe something like a B-status that have to be reflected in their name-tag somehow.

Some other thoughts spinning is maybe make a t2 and a t4 "server" too, + maybe have a website created.
Hopefully we will manage to make our plans come through.
So please make sure no more bad reputation making!
We can become trendsetters even more than we are today so keep up the good barking !

It is utterly important not to kick players without plenty warnings.

I know it can be frustrating at times....but losing patience on our servers cause us to get yelled at on other servers. This is the problem having many op's esp if not following same policy.
I urge those op's who are too hard to be milder!
I also urge those who are slacking to find the middleground too ... so that the most eager don't try to compensate that.
We are still working on finding the most optimal end solution....but in meanwhile we got to be patient.
If we get a bad reputation we ruin all the work we have done so far. It takes 100 good deeds to build up ... and only 1 to tear it down .... to put it to the point.

Kravter and I have tested a new tool for about a week...that we can put HC on the single players who ever we want. It is nice to have this tool but it's not perfected yet and got some flaws. Never the less the active admins should be able to use it and will be enabled soon.
But ...
... this isn't solving everything unfortunately.
We need auto-HC ! and it exist.
I am told from several that some few servers already have it installed and use it. One of them is BUS-station. (it's been empty when I have tried to visit). The players experience with it is that it is fair and easy. The mino-bot automatically put hc on every player and adjust the HC during game if needed. That way admins aren't getting worn out and can actually play more.... - that is a big issue!!! I notice fatigue among admin's and me included. Things just HAVE to get easier for us or else we break down.
Again I want to give thx to all op/admins/moderators for your work and please don't give up yet.
I know how it is... it can be nightmare-ish. You join one of the dog-servers ... shows up you are the only admin - server loaded with t4 punks and some feisty individuals ... some roaring for you to fix some issues been going on ... wow.... difficult since you don't know yet for yourself, and sometimes it is simply not manageable.... big ts, and they start to question you and maybe attack you on top of their own disputes... man oh man .... I could sometimes want to kick 5-6 in one setting , but can't ( because it would for sure give bad reputation based on real facts).
BUT... if auto-hc shows up to not be satisfactory next messurement would be to get tougher regarding kicking and banning with disregard to reputation!

Another issue is that it would be ideal that we spread out on both servers to keep them under control. People tell that it is anarchy when no admins there. I can see that happen... those who are nice to put on hc on our servers witout being asked face those who don't! Etc etc etc .
As dogs we love to play together and have each others backup and should be able to have that...
I wish for the new year that we get the servers automatized asap, I wish this for all of us.
Untill then we just do our best in the aftermath since we got nuked.
As many as possible of the active op's will be made admins on the servers to reinstate admins who lost it of any technical reason...under the condition to only use it for that and never make new op's.
Cvin and I have started to make lists on paper sheets with names on players who need hc and an estimated need of hc.Crespen suggested this before and I think if more do the same we can compare the lists and make them available to dogs on our pages here.
