Not sure what happened ... I got my Discourt account now, but am somehow unable to join the group for us Daiphyernarians! (WHY?!?!?)

I might have gone off topic a bit, but thats just me. What I mean is this: the main qualification to get into a certain position does not necessarily correspond with the qualifications needed to fill out the job. It also means that in case somebody comes along who might have training on the job, you'd try not to let him get into your department, but people who are even more unable than yourself, to secure your leading position. That way a lot of idiots get to high places.

Nice idea! Unfortunately the main quality you need to be successful in politics and get voted into parliament is not your knowledge in a certain field, your intelligence and education, but people are voted in, who are just very good at getting voted! And that means: promising heaven on earth, tax reduction and so forth, even though there is no way you could keep any of those promises. You just know how to talk people into something! Naturally you could try to talk people into something good, convincing them that it is necessary to cut down on air pollution and whatnot, but your main interest is getting elected, so you talk people into electing you and as soon as you were elected, your main interest is to stay on the job and get re-elected next period.

Probably a bit late now to join the discussion, but its incredible how many stupid people walk the streets! (Kain mentioned that) I am always completely taken aback when experiencing people like that ... unfortunately many of them make it in life, get good jobs, whilst decent people who are considerate, more intelligent and maybe even more training on the job and job experience are struggeling. It is a bit like with politics: the basic idea of democracy has been to let those that are most able rule and organise society and in order to find those that are most able people were meant to vote to even out extremist opinions.

Crap, I don't remember much now, but that was the gist of it. It was fuzy when I woke up and now it's been so long. I wouldn't be surprised it was a mix of what happened to me that week too.
