Your Thoughts? Building a B&W-Inspired Game
Hey everyone! Been missing Black & White like crazy, so I'm on a mission to create something inspired by it. Not gonna lie, I'm stoked but also a bit daunted. The creature management system was a huge part of B&W's charm, and while it's not in the initial blueprint, I'm hoping to weave it later if time and resources allow. With years of experience crafting AA games, I'm throwing everything I've got into this project. Let's bring back that old magic, with a twist. What do you think? What do you miss most about black and white?

I love the atmosphere of the second game. It's so peaceful and the buildings are incredibly beautiful. Seeing all the towns people happy and seeing the flowers on the fields. It's such a beautiful and peaceful game, especially the music, oh my the music is so good.

I particularly enjoyed the dynamic city building and the interaction with your villagers. I also enjoyed the simplistic graphics and the wide array of activities, I.E. interaction with the creatures/ variety of side activities on the maps.

This is big if true, I would gladly pay full price for an authentic B&W experience.

I agree. As long as there are no cartoon graphics like in CIV 6.
That stuff makes me puke.

I love the city building and variety of things to build from B&W2. A ridiculously high skyscraper that makes all the tenants miserable - sure why not haha

but MOST OF ALL the interaction of picking up your people and ineracting with them. Nothing beat projectile throwing them across the map to assert your evilness. Or crushing them with a rock.... or a building. being able to pick them up and assign them to their roles is what I miss most.

Also little funny things, if you placed rocks down in a circle your people would start to worship them and create another god lol

Don't forget the touch of crude british humor

I love the narrator saying things with no emotions in B&W1.

Cartoon graphics annihilate immersion, it ends up feeling like a shallow kid's game for mobile phones. I feel that way about every game with cartoon graphics, there seems to be a lot of people who feel similarily.

Just took a look at Daity's Domain. It looks like you've done a good job on it. I personally LOVE the low poly style and I understand the need to use it as a fellow indie dev. Good luck with it.

I'd really love to play new B&W game. I loved the graphics, mechanics of the game. Beast - those are essential - you have to implement those unless you want just another city bulider...
