Welcome to Anime Perspective, A group originally founded by ShroomPlus and Ŗỏụĉє,

What we do is basically review anime suggested by our members, we also sometimes start discussions on current and upcoming anime.

Anime began at the start of the 20th century, when Japanese flimakers experimented with the animation techniques also pioneered in France, Germany, the United States, and Russia.. The oldest known anime in existence first screened in 1917 - a two minute clip of a samurai trying to test a new sword on his target, only to suffer defeat. The first talking anime was Chikara to Onna no Yo no Naka, released in 1933.
By the 1930s, animation became an alternative format of storytelling to the underdeveloped live-action industry in Japan. Unlike in the United States, the live-action industry in Japan remained a small market and suffered from budgeting, location, and casting restrictions. The lack of Western-looking actors, for example, made it next to impossible to shoot films set in Europe, America, or fantasy worlds that do not naturally involve Japan. Animation allowed artists to create any characters and settings.
The success of The Walt Disney Company's 1937 feature film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs influenced Japanese animators. In the 1960s, manga artist and animator Osamu Tezuka adapted and simplified many Disney animation techniques to reduce costs and limit the number of frames in productions. He intended this as a temporary measure to allow him to produce material on a tight schedule with inexperienced animation staff.
The 1970s saw a surge of growth in the popularity of manga — many of them later animated — especially of the work of Osamu Tezuka, who has been called a "legend" and the "god of manga". His work and that of other pioneers in the field, inspired characteristics and genres that are fundamental elements of anime today. The giant robot genre (known as "Mecha" outside Japan), for instance, took shape under Tezuka, developed into the Super Robot genre under Go Nagai and others, and was revolutionized at the end of the decade by Yoshiyuki Tomino who developed the Real Robot genre. Robot anime like the Gundam and The Super Dimension Fortress Macross series became instant classics in the 1980s, and the robot genre of anime is still one of the most common in Japan and worldwide today. In the 1980s, anime became more accepted in the mainstream in Japan (although less than manga), and experienced a boom in production. Following a few successful adaptations of anime in overseas markets in the 1980s, anime gained increased acceptance in those markets in the 1990s and even more at the turn of the 21st century.

Kill la Kill Review

Controversy.
I've decided to put this ontop of the review before starting it.
Kill la Kill has had many mixed thoughts, reviews, and outlooks by people due to the fact that the transformations of the characters have lots of their bodies exposed, and even have characters nude in it and arguably instances of sexual harassment. However the deep part of the story revolves around the power of clothing and what it does to the students in the anime. People argue that the whole no clothing and being exposed
is part of the fan service or even part of the story. However really honestly I find that the story and the idea behind this anime makes you forget how these characters actually look. The sexual harassment was not fan service and was part of the story to actually make you cringe. Really honestly give this anime a try, don't drop it after the first, second or even third episode.
I really honestly think this is something new and different and should be given a try. I only don't recommend people that are prude or even slightly prude to watch it if they feel it's too much for them.

Who ?
Kill la Kill is the first production created by the Trigger studios
and is directed by the same people who have directed Gurren Laggen
( the anime itself has very similar characteristics and themes. )
The anime has 24 episodes so it's not that long either, however
there are only 2 volumes so far of the manga supposedly but it's ongoing.

What and Where?
Transfer student Ryuko Matoi is searching for her father's killer as he left her a special weapon that resembles half a scissor, trying to find whoever has the other half being the potential killer. She is transfered to a school called " Honnouji Academy. " The school is lead by the president who has a strong dictatorship over all, Satsuki Kiryuin.
She leads the entire highschool with her student council which all defend her and do her work. The school works on a ranking system where uniforms that the students wear have things called " life fibers."
Which grant whoever wears them power, the higher the rank the more "stars" a uniform has, ( higher percentage of life fibers )
granting more power to the user. Ryuko Matoi notices the Satsuki Ryuko's dictatorship and the students that follow her and challenges
her way through the highschool in hopes of fighting her in belief that she has information on her father's killer. Ryuko is later finds her own uniform that her father made for her before he was killed, and it grants her more power and capabilities to fight through the highschool, the uniform has transformations that uses her blood and in moderation can give her extreme power.
Learning through fighting, her half scissor can cut through uniforms and destroy life fibers.
As the story goes things pretty much just get more epic and crazier. Other reviewers would say the plot broken down isn't original,
however in my opinion the way the hero works through all this is entirely original and crazy in it's own way which makes this show
completely different from any other anime out there.

Animation, voices, and soundtrack.
The animation is not 10/10 but I mean, even I don't notice this unless I'm actually concentrating on the quality of the animation.
That being said I'd give it a 8/10 or even higher because this is a completely new studio animating their first anime and really when
you look at the industry and how it is. They did aced it on how they decided to bring out the animation.

Being a fan of subs and never actually watching english dub.
The original Japanese audio is 10/10,
and really as expected, I've never had a problem with the original audio.
However the english dub as normally I'm not a fan of, this series dub was tolerable and 7 or 8 out of 10.

Soundtrack was great in my opinion, I even went back and bothered getting the OST.
After actually watching the anime and listening to the OST it always put me in a awesome mood.

My views/conclusion.
Remember watching Gurren lagann? ( if you haven't I seriously recommend you go do that at some point. )
Remember that awesome epic feeling you got that filled you with awesomeness and power?
This anime brings it back ( due to the directors ) and you won't be disappointed.
This anime had brought back that feeling of looking forward to the next episode.
The action, plot, characters. Everything about it made me want more, the nudity and etc,
honestly I gurrantee unless you're a prude you won't see them being exposed or nude during the action,
you just compeletely forget. That's how great this anime was for me.
In conclusion with all the good and the bad I give it a 8 or 9 out of 10.
