Defining Uthrandir


Uthrandir is growing and as we continue our growth I want to take a step back and define what the future of Uthrandir is going to look like.

For Bellon and I, Uthrandir revolves around four primary aims:

Playerbase
First of all we want Uthrandir to be about the players. Anything and everything that we do on Uthrandir has to be with the playerbase in mind and we want to involve the playerbase with decision making as much as possible.

Immersive lore, character development and roleplay.
Secondly we want Uthrandir to be about character development and roleplay. We want players to create a character profile, log into the game and explore the world and be their character. Meet players, make friends, roleplay, write books and develop their character. We also want players actions to be reflected in the lore. We have a lot of infrastructure for this already in place and are always looking for ways to make this better.

Dynamic rise and fall of Nations
Third we want to develop a dynamic system where players can create their own nations. We are currently working on the specifics of how this system will work, but the outset is that players must be able to compete for who gets to be a ruler and it should be entirely dependent on player actions, not admin decisions. We want there to be game of thrones-style political interaction and intrigue as well as war and conflict. There are several directions to take with this and we are going to be spending the coming weeks to think hard on what would be best for the server.

Amazing landscape and architecture
We want to keep the standard of builds on the server high and we want to have the world looking beautiful and feel epic. Every Faith on the server will receive a temple of high build quality and we will keep on expanding the world with custom terrain.

Secondary Aims:
We have a lot of secondary aims and the list keeps growing. It would be impossible to list them all here, but I wanted to emphasize a few points we find important as well.

RPG
While we don’t want RPG to overshadow our roleplay there are RPG aspects that we want in the game just to make it more fun. Examples of these are spells, quests and diablo drops. Eventually we might look into having a class system as there have been some kind people who offered to help us customize it, but we would want to make very sure it keeps a good balance.

PvP
We are not a PvP server and we feel that if we have free PvP in the entire world it would overshadow the aspect of roleplaying and the focus would be primarily on PvPing. That said we do really like the aspect of roleplay-PvP, wars and conflict. We want there to be conflict in the world and we want wars to be fought. We want to look into a comprehensive ruleset on how to handle roleplay PvP in Caerundal and also figure out a system on how to handle war. Ideally war would also be able to influence the politics of the land and territorial control of land.
