With only two more days until the release of On Rusty Trails we have a little surprise for you.

As a "Thank you" for helping us with your feedback, all beta keys will stay valid for the retail version. You will own the full game plus the free DLC comic upon releaese on Monday.

If you enjoyed not only hunting bugs and making us feel miserable about putting them in there, but also enjoyed On Rusty Trails as a game, we would like to kindly ask you to consider writing a Steam review.

This happened to three people who had tested an earlier beta version and only on Windows PC, as far as we know.

If your game crashes on startup on Windows as a new tester, you could try this as well and report on your success.

• Go to On Rusty Trails properties (via right click in your Steam library)
  
• Click on the launch options button
  
• Enter "--resetprogress" (without the "") and save.
  
• Start the game
  
• Just make sure to delete the "--resetprogress", before starting the game for a second time, or your progress will be reset again

Thank you for taking part in testing our beta for On Rusty Trails. We will send you your keys soon. When playing the game, make sure to check the info box in the upper-right corner. It has to say: Build #1977. If you see any other build number, please contact me/us.

Add the key to your Steam library via + ADD A GAME... -> Activate a Product on Steam... (bottom-left corner in standard Steam UI)

Some of you had asked, if we wanted/needed/allowed streaming of the beta or capturing video for Let’s Plays. Unfortunately we have to ask you to NOT show footage of the beta in public. If you are interested in creating content with our game, please contact me separately and we can talk about time frames for that, closer to the release.

We’re primarily interested in technical issues and gameplay bugs. But we also welcome feedback about the content of the game and how long it took you to complete it. The beta contains a subset of the levels in the final game, the rest of them is still being worked on. On Rusty Trails is designed to be played with a game controller. So if you have one, similar to the Xbox 360 controller, that would do very nicely. If you spot errors, or want to comment on specific sections of the game, there’s a small info box in the upper right that tells you the name of the level. Please make a screenshot (F12 by default) to give us a clue about which section of the game you’re talking about.

Please report any crashes or error messages, and keep a copy of the integratelog.txt from the game’s installation directory (SteamApps/common/On Rusty Trails). Crash dumps (.mdmp files) are also incredibly helpful in reproducing and fixing bugs. They will also be saved in your On Rusty Trails Steam directory. If the game crashes or behaves strangely during gameplay, there’s a replay file in the game directory that you can send us. You can also generate one by pressing F6 during gameplay.
To find it, either Alt+Tab away from the game if it’s still running, or exit the app. Open the installation directory. There are probably a few files with the extension “.replay” there. Look for the most recent one, it is marked with a timestamp in the filename.

• Please open a new thread on the group forum titled “Beta Test - YourName” - You can do this in English or German
  
• Give us some info about your testing environment (hardware, OS, driver version, with or without underwear, you know the deal). If you’re on Windows, preferably post a DxDiag.txt generated by DxDiag.exe
  
• Split your post in these sections (if you have feedback on more than bugs):
  
  1. Bugs ( e.g. Sub_001(Level_Name): Platform did not react to my form change)
     
  2. Menu
     
  3. Gameplay
     
  4. Other (for sound, graphics, general feedback that does not fit the above sections)

If you play more than one session, just reply to your thread in the same form with your new findings.

• If the player dies during the first boss fight, the character can sometimes get stuck after respawning. Menu and controls don't work anymore, game has to be restarted.
  
• The final boss fight is broken, sorry.
  
• Achievements for collectibles are unlocked sometimes, although not all collectibles have been saved
  
• The "complete the game" achievement does not unlock
  
• When a level starts, the game doesn't recognize any buttons, keys or thumbsticks that were pressed during loading
  
• In 16:9 resolutions, switching from fullscreen to windowed cuts off a large part of the image. Workaround: resize window a bit
  
• Resizing the window during loading does crash the game
  
• Closing the game during loading hangs the process
  
• Skipping of cutscenes is currently disabled
  
• After the credits roll, the game does not end. Workaround: open the menu and quit the game or select another level
