ABOUT The Center For Advanced Learning

A place for Gaming while at CAL or at home.

About CAL

The Center for Advanced Learning (also known as CAL) is a high school — but it's a whole new kind of high school. At CAL, you can take advanced courses in three technology-based fields: information technology ,medical/health Sciences , and engineering/advanced manufacturing . And when you're finished, you'll have a high school diploma, a start on college, and real-world experiences that you couldn't get at any other high school.

CAL is advanced, project-based learning
Some high school students are ready to take on greater challenges than they find in their school's technology-based programs, but limited funds and small numbers of interested students restrict what any single school can offer. By pooling resources and students, the Centennial, Corbett, Gresham-Barlow, and Reynolds school districts can now offer more advanced and comprehensive technology-based programs through the Center for Advanced Learning.
Beyond CAL

CAL is a jump start on college and careers
As a CAL student, you'll acquire advanced skills and develop contacts within local industries; you can also earn college credits and professional certifications through these programs:

* Early Collegiate Opportunity (ECO)
Through ECO courses in English and Science, you can earn Mt. Hood Community College credit that is transferable to public four-year colleges and universities.
* 2+2 Technical Preparation
2+2 courses provide Mt. Hood Community College credits that satisfy technical course requirements in professional technical degree or certificate programs at MHCC.
* World Organization of Webmasters Program (W.O.W.)
Through CAL's Web Design program you can earn industry-recognized webmaster certification from the World Organization of Webmasters.
* CISCO/MS Certification
Earn industry-recognized certification from either CISCO or Microsoft.

Through project-based learning, access to state-of-the-art technology, and guidance from experts in your field, you'll acquire foundational knowledge in your area of interest, then take that knowledge out in the world to meet the real needs of community businesses and health care providers. While you may start out in classrooms, you won't stay there long — you'll be in labs, manufacturing sites, medical offices, and local businesses, learning not only skills and information specific to your CAL program, but also life and work skills that will serve you long after high school.
