History Of The Brotherhood

The Brotherhood is a band of brothers and friends carrying the “Godwin” surname that originated from the small Swadian village of Yalibe. The Godwin family specialized in hunting and trapping wild game, and they were the number one supplier of meat and furs to the entire Swadian empire. This all changed on one fateful summer day. The brothers were returning from a successful hunt where they were greeted with a desolate, scorched, shell of the town they had once called home. Burned bodies littered the streets as a blood stained Rhodok banner waved in the town square. After mourning the loss of their once beloved village the men set off in the only place they knew they could find work, the city. They made the week long journey to the city and promptly enlisted in the military of House Gaines. The men were hardworking and determined and quickly drew praise from other soldiers in the ranks. They saw action in the Great Peasant Revolt and the Invasion of the Vaegirs, they valiantly fought for the glory of their Lord’s House. The Godwin’s and their followers were looking like promising candidates for promotion and even greater things, until a disagreement between three of the brothers and a superior officer would be the death of them. Although, the brothers were hardworking and determined, they were also greedy for more and more wealth and elevation in the House. When they did not receive these awards as quickly as they believed they decided to confront their superior. After a ferocious verbal debate the Godwin brothers renounced their allegiance to the House, but as they were packing up and preparing to embark on another journey two of the Godwins decided to give the lord one final piece to remember them by. They boisterously strolled up to the lord and proceeded to spit at his feet. This mistake would be a grave one, because before the brothers knew it the Lord had seized them and was preparing them to be hanged. The remaining Godwins hurriedly hustled from the city, and made a break for the monastery on top of the hill overlooking the great city. As Edward Godwin and Jonathan Smith climbed the mountain pass they turned to see a site that will haunt him to this very day. The dangling bodies of his beloved brothers and friends Hrothgar and Savior on display for the peasants amusement. This set off a chain reaction through all the brothers. A wildfire had that could only be pacified with blood. They vowed that they would have revenge on the House, but before they could do that they needed money. The Brotherhood was born. They became assassins for hire, killing anyway and anyone for the right price. They became iconic throughout the land as the best assassins in Calradia. They were not only limited to assassinations though. They were masters of disruption and chaos. Spreading lies and starting fires if they were given a task they would see it done. They would not stop until their brothers were avenged, and their thirst for blood was quenched.
