Need a break

Hi!

You might have noticed that I haven't posted a review for a few weeks. It's because I'm currently somehow losing the motivation to write proper Steam reviews with detailed reasoning.

I am puzzled, as Steam reviews limit me to play (and review) only games on Steam. I'm considering other options for both Steam and non-Steam game reviews but I don't want to make my personal gaming blog (don't want to care about hosting, domain, proper CMS and advertising). Also, I often feel like that I don't want to explore all aspects of played games, instead of just casually playing it and enjoying features that I personally find entertaining.

That leads me to question myself if I want to continue reviewing. My current answer is: Not now, and if I continue writing Steam reviews, it would probably be just really short ones (1-2 paragraphs) that I don't find worthy recommending in a personal Steam group, I don't want to spam notifications to you for a short reads. Although the positive ones may be in curations. (Does anybody actually care about Steam Curations? :spazdunno: )

I want to say that even though I'm taking a break, I appreciate everybody who read through my reviews, gave me feedback and rated it. You always made me feel that the time spend writing reviews was worth it. :8bitheart:

Final note: Even though this group is getting a break, Reviewers' Guild is gonna continue as I am glad to see good Steam reviewers connecting and discussing. (In case you are a Steam reviewer and aren't in the group yet, just tell me and I'll send you an invite if you don't have just M E M E S instead of reviews.)

One more final note: If you want to follow more personal reviewer groups, I can recommend you following Lady Storyteller, TeamTom's Reviews, Antwog's Analysis, and Murphy's Lawyer Curation.

Hey Vader, first, thank you and I appreciate you plugging me and Tom's review groups, it does mean a lot.

Secondly, I didn't think the new system was bad until I properly researched it and unfortunately this will remove some if not most of the motivation of writing detailed reviews. So I hope you both and others don't stop writing for good but I understand your point of view (pun unintended) on this situation.

To be honest Vader, I've been feeling very much the same, especially since the way that Steam displays reviews now (most popular review from the last 30 days for a game) it has kind of made it feel kind of pointless to write a detailed review for a game, only for it to eventually get buried under the joke reviews after the 30 days.

I seriously hope Steam/Valve reconsider this action as it could harm the community as a whole without proper reviews curating the Steam page.

To answer your question regarding curation - I've not made a huge push for getting followers of my curator page, people tend to gravitate to a user's review page rather than a group's review page I have found.
