The winter holidays are fast approaching, which means it’s that time of year again for gift giving and camaraderie within the community, known as the Short Stop Secret Steam Santa Snake! Most of the head honchos are busy getting prepared for the charity marathon, so Implying (a.k.a. Spleenboks on Steam) will be in charge here. Aside from some date changes and potentially one new event (see announcements), the rules are what you’ve come to know over the years, so don’t fret. Read on for an overview of the rules, as well as info for what we might be doing differently this year.

First up, is the main event: the Short Stop Secret Steam Santa Snake! The basic rules are as follows:

The ShortStop Secret Steam Santa Snake is an activity where you will receive one game gift from a random person in the community (aka your Secret Santa Snake). It becomes one big chain and by the end everyone will have given a gift to one person and received a gift from another!

1) By joining the group you agree to follow these guidelines and will be giving / receiving a gift. You will be a jerk if you leave the group, do not give a gift, or turn down the gift. Give, get, and game. If you qualify for the criteria in rule 2, all you have to do is join the group to be entered.

2) You must have a Steam wishlist of 5 or more games to participate. One of your wishlist games must cost $10 or less (to be considerate of the less wealthy).

3) After December 12th, you must have met the above wishlist guideline or you will not be able to participate.

4) No one will be allowed to join the group after December 12th, 11:59 PM EST

5) Be sure to add everybody in the group to your friend list on Steam. This will help keep the aura of secrecy, strengthen our community bond, and just make everybody’s lives easier.

6) On December 13th, participants will receive the name of the person they are going to give a gift to. That name is to remain a secret. You then have some time (a little over a week) to decide which 1 game you will give them from their wishlist. If you want to wait for Holiday Sales then you are welcome to, but be sure you give your gift before December 25th. If you wish to make the purchase early, you can put the game in your inventory as a gift and then wait for when we give out the gifts.

7) Starting at the end of the charity stream (December 20th), people may give their gift to their selected person. Please do not forget to give your game and please be sure it gets to the right person.

8) If you have not received a gift by December 26th, please contact Implying and he will sort things out. If you are participating and have not given your assigned gift by December 26th, you are a very bad person and may face repercussions.

As for the new event, please see the group announcements because otherwise this description would hit the character limit.
