The series is about a Akita puppy named Silver, who is the son of the great bear dog Riki. The series begins with Silver are born in small town in Japan "wasteland", the city relies on skiers, but in the past have a portion of skiers killed by grizzly bear Akakabuto. A hunter called gohei has trained a number of bear dogs. One day five years before the story of Silver began was gohei out on bear hunting with Akita Inuen his Shiro (Riki's father). They meet at the bear Akakabuto, which has threatened the population of the city. Gohei being attacked by the bear and lose one ear. Shiro fight for life against Akakabuto but lose it, but not before gohei manages to shoot the big bear in one eye, so that the nervous system Akakabuto was injured and the bear was supernaturally large and aggressive. The small town is dependent Akakabuto die otherwise tourists come to be alarmed and the city will go bankrupt.

At the beginning of the film we see that gohei and Riki are looking. Meanwhile, Silver born. Daisuke (the owner of the mother of Silver. A little boy who is going to be Silvers best friend) is a very impatient boy, and takes the Silver in the snowmobile's so they can retaliate gohei and Riki, so Silver gets greeted his father. When Daisuke and Silver find Riki and gohei is Riki in a struggle for life and death against Akakabuto. Daisuke and Silver can not do anything and will have to look at. After a fierce battle being Riki worn and Akakabuto throws him down in a ravine. Silver sees this, and since that day was Akakabuto Silvers mortal enemy and Silver vows to avenge his father.

Gohei trainer Silver and become a good bear dog, and he succeeded in. One day when Silver is out in the woods alone, he meets some wild dogs. Their goal is also to kill Akakabuto and get peace in the woods. Silver follows these dogs, and to his utter shock, he finds out that the leader of the pack is none other one his father Riki, who everyone thought was dead, but Riki lost hukomelsen when he fell ravine. Silver joins dog herd, their goal is to gather in as many dogs as possible in the fight against Akakabuto. They travel around all over the country and recruit dogs, to the last and great battle.
