ABOUT Respite

Gaming Community and Friends

Began as a Horde guild on the World of Warcraft Nathrezim server back in late 2005. Now, albeit smaller, Respite has evolved into a group of gamers and friends.

Very appropriate for an undead imo! (being the disease). As a matter of fact though, I got it from Terry Pratchett:) Scrof actually lost his name along the way and is now a Kul Tiran mage called Musgrave.

@Hellthy/Qaatz - I didn't see your replies last year (lost in the steam notification spam):/ Glad to hear you're both doing well!

I'm watching John Green's bi-weekly rant on YT and Today I Learn what Scrofula actually means... Dude... WTF...

I think I'd have to agree with the fuzzy bit: I vaguely remember a lot of bits and like drunken singing over voice chat...

I think Respite was one of the main reasons I stuck with MMOs for as long as I did. Over the years I found a number of groups that aspects of that family feeling, but lacked something in other aspects. Haven't played much multiplayer in the last few years, but have gotten a bit done on playing through more of the overabundance of games Steam sales seem to cause for a lot of people.

Time certainly flies when you're keeping busy. Gone through a few changes myself: leaving the military, getting a degree, and a pretty interesting new job.

Wonder if I can dig up some screen captures from back then...

Heya Scrof, that's a nice reminisce. :) My memory of that time is fond but decidedly fuzzy, lol.

Before and after WoW I've been much more of a singleplayer kind of gamer. But my 4ish years playing and having y'all around in the crew was transformational for me in a lot of ways. I can unironically say that trying to make Respite work well, both as a family and as a producer of successful outcomes, heavily influenced my career. Trying to get a bunch of people working towards a shared goal when you have limited ways to incentivize them is a description of both Respite and software project/product management.

I do think of Hockner still. We didn't see eye to eye on much outside of WoW but he was a stalwart friend in the game. As were you and so many others. Hope he's doing well. Hope you're all doing well.

These days I play around in real estate, elden ring, playing the ol 'guitar, and sobriety (2 yrs!).

Hah; speaking for myself, having kids sure had sped that up. Time zooms by. Not long now she'll be playing them!

Trying to remember some social stuff - I reckon Hock and Hell talking politics sticks out. Imagine what Hock is like now; he was Fox/Trump well before it was a thing. Probably in congress.

Good times were had! Cept whatever all those names you mentioned that sound like they were probably those raid things... We even had a guild wedding! And they're still together! I still stalk those of ya that aren't like me and always invisible on the Steam friends list thing. And, yep, check here from time to time although I'll admit a notification about your comment is what brought me here. And, yes, we're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ old now.... Thanks for pointing that out... :steamfacepalm::steamsad::steamsalty:
