This announcement is directed to editors, those who receive/record videos and edit them. For this task, there are certain requirements which should be met and included in each video posted on Project Exterminate. If you have/planning of editing videos, please read below.


-Videos no longer have a 15 minute limit (meaning each video can go for as long as the recorder/editor wishes). However, it is recommended that each video doesn't proceed over 30 minutes. Regarding this recommendation, here's a little rhyme which may help you remember:

If over 30 minutes, split it in 2.
If under 30 minutes, it's up to you.

This means if the video is around or over 30 minutes long, please split it into at least 2 parts. If under 30 minutes (eg: 20 minutes), you can decided if you split it or leave it as you is.


-The Project Exterminate intro MUST be used for all videos. If you currently don't have a copy on your computer, please ask either Harrison, James or myself to send you one. The intro goes for 10 seconds and is to be included at the start of the video, however not at the very start. As shown in our 4 videos uploaded so far, there is a short clip from later in the video shown at the very start. Its purpose, to either grab the viewer's attention or provide a brief idea of what the video contains, or both. (You should know what this is about). After this short clip comes the intro. Please watch the start of one of the uploaded videos from the beginning to just after the intro ends. You'll notice that the start of the video fades in, fades into the intro, then fades into the actually recording. Although this isn't a necessary requirement, it's certainly recommended to make the video look neater, smarter and more similar to other videos. All of the 4 videos uploaded so far were edited by me, therefore they share the same visual effects.


-Switching between views is recommended, and is also showing respect to other people featured in a recorded video. The Minecraft video featuring myself, Tomas and Tyler is a good example (not yet uploaded). In the making of the video, Tomas and I both recorded, meaning that when it came to editing, I frequently switched recordings (as demonstrated in several Yogscast videos). The video begins in my view, then later switches to Tomas' according to what happens at the chosen time of switching. A good idea would be to watch the Minecraft video (when uploaded) and get a general idea to what I'm talking about.

Also if you do watch it, please excuse my massively shameful grammar fail when regarding which view was being witnessed. At the beginning of my views, I added a caption saying 'JULIAN'S VIEW'. In Tomas' views, I said 'TOMAS'S VIEW' when it should be 'TOMAS' VIEW'.

Anyway, off topic. As mentioned in the previous paragraph, it is highly recommended that it is mentioned which view is being observed in the form of a caption. Each caption should also fade in to appear neat, and should last a short amount of time.

-The font which has been chosen (however not mandatory to use) is Obelix Pro. Please see either myself or James to download this sick font!


-Since custom thumbnails have been enabled, each video should have a thumbnail which fits what the video is about. If the video is split into 2 or more parts, please use a program (eg Photoshop or Paint) to put a caption on it saying 'PART 1' or 'PART 2', etc... Once again, it's recommended to use Obelix Pro as the seleced font. The caption should be placed at the bottom right-hand corner of the picture. A good idea would be to see some of the thumbnails used on our current videos uploaded. Also, during the uploading process where you select the thumbnail, be sure it fits in the box/rectangle and that none of the words or necessary details are blocked out since it's too big/long/wide.


And at this point, I think I've covered everything. Please let me know if I've missed something which needs to be taken into consideration.
