No Man's Sky Universe

No Man's Sky is a highly anticipated upcoming game for PS4 and PC, originally announced by developer and publisher Hello Games in 2013.
But when is No Man's Sky coming out? And will it ever be available on Xbox One? We investigate to bring you everything you need to know about the sci-fi game.

No man's Sky will be released in June 2016.

UK based Hello Games (the studio behind the Joe Danger Series) first announced No Man's Sky at VGX 2013, releasing a trailer for the game at the same time. It was then highlighted by Sony during its press event at E3 in June 2014, and then shown off in depth at E3 2015 earlier this year, though we've still yet to hear an official release date for the game.
Even though No Man's Sky is an indie title, Sony can see the potential that this PS4 exclusive has, offering a gaming experience unlike any other, on any platform. Therefore, Sony is treating it as if it were being developed in house, which from the tech giant is unprecedented.

"No Mans Sky has been treated as if it was from one of our internal studios,” Fergal Gara, Commercial Director of Sony UK says. “We have been working very closely with the developers and bringing it into our release programme as if we had made it. We are not going to treat it any differently and we are going to put the full weight of PlayStation behind it. If it all comes together as well as expected, it will be treated like a first-party release; it is not a self-published small indie title on the platform."

It marks a turn in Sony's strategy, as the company had been known to be a little less friendly to smaller, independent developers in the past. Importantly, this isn't a one off either - Sony seems to want to get behind and support any game that has potential for the PS4 platform. We hope that this translates into a sooner-than-expected release date, and that more information is released at this years E3 expo in June.

It's been confirmed that the game will launch on PC alongside the PS4 release, but it currently looks unlikely that an Xbox One version of the game will be released.
