Regiment for Iron Europe

The regiment was on 26 January 1818 as the 36th Infantry Regiment (4th Reserve Regiment) erected. Since 1820 it bore the number 39 Towards the end of the First World War, it was 26 Oct 1918 by Kaiser Wilhelm II in Fusilier Regiment "General Ludendorff" (Lower Rhine) No. 39 renamed.
Between 1913 and 1914, had Erich Ludendorff , 1916-1918 with Paul von Hindenburg at the head of the Supreme Command , the regiment commanded briefly. The regiment was renamed by the Emperor was completed at discharge Ludendorff from the Supreme Command in recognition of his services rendered.
