In this group we will be posting all the news regarding Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 as they come out with time. If you want to be the first informed about the development of the up-coming MW3 first-person shooter game, then you must keep an eye on our group as we'll update it regularly through the Announcement tab.

► Introduction
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (abbreviated as CoD: MW3) is an up-coming first-person shooter video game currently in development by Infinity Ward with assisted development from Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software co-developing multiplayer development. It will be the third installment in the Modern Warfare series, and the eighth Call of Duty installment in total.

► Gameplay
Infinity Ward revealed that Modern Warfare 3 will feature a new survival mode. The new mode will feature up to two players fighting level after level of increasingly difficult enemies. Unlike other video games where enemies spawn at fixed locations, the enemies in this mode will spawn around the player so that they can approach the player from a tactically advantageous location. As players fight off enemies, they will be earning cash. More cash is earned for scoring headshots, having high accuracy and taking less damage overall. For each kill, they can use their money to purchase items such as new weapons, upgrades and ammo. Another example to earn more cash is by consecutively killing enemies quickly: killing one enemy and then another one after a prolonged time period will no longer be as rewarding as killing two enemies in quick succession. The new mode will be integrated from the game's multiplayer maps, meaning that all multiplayers maps may be played with a partner in the survival mode.

► Characters
The game will see the return of Task Force 141 Captain John "Soap" MacTavish, former SAS Captain John Price and Russian informant Nikolai who are on the run after killing the rogue U.S. Army Lieutenant General Shepard. Russian Ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov will also reprise as the game's primary antagonist. Several new playable characters have been added, including Derek "Frost" Westbrook and Sandman, a pair of Delta Force operatives in New York; Marcus Burns, a Sergeant in the Special Air Service fighting in London; and Yuri, a Russian federal security agent.

► Plot
The game will immediately follow the events of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, where Russia continues its invasion of the United States of America, and has also expanded its offensive to Europe, including England, France and Germany. Campaign stages are also planned for Somalia, Sierra Leone, Moscow and Dubai. Gameplay videos from E3 2011 show Delta Force operatives forcing a Russian submarine to surface in the East River and boarding it before taking part in a mission to destroy a radar jamming installation on top of the New York Stock Exchange.

► Kill Confirmed is an all new gametype which will see players killing enemies and then having to run over them to pick up a set of dogtags to confirm the kill and score the points for your team. While you are doing this, the enemy team will try to collect the dogtags first to prevent you from confirming the kill.

► Team Defender is the other new game mode to be included in Public Playlists straight from launch. In this mode players will grab a flag a la Capture the Flag style and then protect the flag carrier in order to gain points for their team.

In addition to those two new modes, a variety of modes exclusive to Private Matches have been introduced.

1. Infection sees one player starting out as the Infected and killing the other players until no one is left. When you are killed you join the Infected team to help hunt down the survivors.

2. Drop Zone sees one team holding a Drop Zone from the other team in order to secure Team Points and Care Packages for their team.

3. Team Juggernaut sees a Juggernaut join your team and, with his help, you must kill all the enemy team, who also have a Juggernaut. First to reach the score limit wins.

4. Juggernaut sees you trying to kill the Juggernaut so that you can become the new Juggernaut and then you have to survive against the other players trying to kill you.

5. Gun Game sees the players in a race to see who can be the first to dominate with every gun.

6. One in the Chamber sees you gaining Ammo by killing enemy players. The last to be alive wins.

Private Matches have also been enhanced, allowing players to create even more Gametypes than the ones listed above, and then share them with their friends.

In addition to this, players who are subscribed to Call of Duty: Elite will be able to vote on these player created modes and some of these could make it into Public Playlists.
