_TWEAKING YOUR RATES_

For most online games, especially source games, you must configure your rates and somtimes your ticrates. Rate is the kb/s your game allows in upload/download speed. Tick rates or ticrates are controlled by the server and most of the time are automatically handled by the game. But with source games in particular, you have to increase their limits.

To improve your network performance and use the standards to not get you kicked or banned in source games:

open up the console using the ` key on your keyboard [to enable the console in source games, go into your options, then keyboard binds, then advanced, and check off enable console].

once the console is open type the following commands-

rate 25000 (or 30000 if you think you have a good enough internet connection)

cl_cmdrate 100(66 for team fortress 2)
cl_updaterate 100(66 for team fortress 2)

And thats it. You now have the correct settings that most servers use and reccomend. If you want to tweak your rate, the one fact you must know is that higher rate=more fps, more risk of ping spikes. Lower rate= safer from ping spikes but less fps.

So you could have rate 20000 to be on the safe side, or rate 30000 to boost your performance at a risk. 25000 is the reccomended for pc gaming period however.

Download that ♥♥♥♥. I swear it works freaking miracles on the most ping spike prone wireless connections. It has a feature called "streaming mode" that prevents packet loss. Not only that, but it uses only about 400 kbs of ram.

How to use?

1. download it
2. create a folder in your program files or wherever you want to put it called "wlan optimizer".
3. create a shortcut to your desktop if you want.
4. run the program and go to settings.
5. check off every setting in that list EXCEPT disable autoconfig and push the save button.

Your wireless internet has now banhammered fps spikes in the face and you should never have to start up the program again, it will automatically start with windows.
