The 2012 Amsterdam Cannabis Cup is the largest marijuana and hemp festival in the world and involves a competition for the best weed buds, hash and seeds.

The High Times Cannabis Cup is a yearly event that takes place in Amsterdam. The 2012 festival and competition will be held from 20 – 24 November. Fall is harvest time, harvest of marijuana buds. During the five-day Cannabis Cup Competition grass is tested on purity, weed buds are inspected on color and feel and spliffs are assessed on length and strength. The six-day Cannabis Cup Festival is spread out at various coffee shops throughout Amsterdam. The main events take place at Melkweg, Lijnbaansgracht 234.

Coffee Shops in Amsterdam
Amsterdam has about 300 coffee shops scattered over the city. A numbered green shield showing a marijuana leaf against a green and white background indicates a licensed place. If you think that buying and selling marijuana in the Netherlands is legal, you are wrong. Soft drugs are decriminalized, that’s all. Every person over eighteen is allowed (tolerated to be more precise) to possess thirty grams of soft drugs.
