ABOUT Helisexual Eagles

HELISEXUALLY ACTIVISTIC EAGLES

We are a group of avid gamers who enjoy flying and going fast. Some of us sexually identify as Attack Helicopters, and some of us are eagles. This is complete BS but I hope you can understand us.

The Signal from Creosi
The Signal from Tolva - If Borderlands, Halo, and Fallout had a baby.

The Signal from Tolva (I will refer to as TSFT) is interesting. It has it's strong and weak points. Here are a few big ones, I will list them and then explain them:

1. Challenging combat
Unlike many other open-world games, you are not some all-powerful character for the sake of being the protagonist. You need to constantly duck behind cover and watch your health. You have shields that you can upgrade, but they have limited use in fights and wear out quick. You only do as much damage as your enemies and allies, and that adds a certain fun factor to it.
2. Fight with a squad
One fun thing is the 5Q-UID PHREAKER (with multiple versions). It allows you to "recruit" 2, 3, then 4 other "Surveyors" with each upgrade. This is useful for launching assaults on bunkers and ambushes.
3. Intruiging campaign
There aren't actually any spoken words in the entire game. Everything is explained through transmissions, archives, and data you find across the map.
You don't get the entire story at any one time, and you only get little pieces at the end of each "mission" you do.
4. Boring scenery
The game is great, but it has a problem, if not a few. One is that you have to walk... A lot. It's not that bad in most games, like Skyrim, where you have something to look at while you walk, but the planet of Tolva is all rocky plains and deserts. Not much more. It kind of tells you why nobody cared about the planet for thousands of years until a strange signal came from it. When you spend your precious minutes walking through the same, unchanging rocky plain of rolling hills and ship wreckage, it can get to you. Especially considering that you paid $20 for it.
5. It goes well with The Hobbit's soundtrack
This is kind of a passive thing. Here is why: It works because there is so much walking, but also there are big fights. Two things LOTR is centered around. I felt like the music just went well with it, and the epic parts started with the epic fights, the tranquil parts with the walking and exploring, etc.

So that's about it! Overall I rate this game about 8/10. It would be a 10 if not for the amount of walking and repetetive landscape. Hope you enjoyed, and do check this game out!
