Garry's Mod Gaming Community : Here are the news : Back in 2004, Garry's Mod turned Valve's Source Engine into a toybox. Its intuitive UI, straightforward controls and building tools removed the programming barriers needed to be creative with Source. Since then, hundreds of thousands of people have used the mod to attach rockets to the G-Man's head, build a giant robots or mess around with the physics system. The community has created hundreds of new game modes, mods and machinima using the tools.

Today, developer Garry Newman posts on his his site to announce that Garry's Mod has now sold more than a million copies since its launch on Steam in 2007.

"This is a pretty big deal for me considering this all started off as a tiny tiny modification about 6 years ago," writes Garry. "This is more than I could have ever expected or wished for!"

Garry's Mod is available to buy on Steam now for £6 / $10. Garry's Mod 9, an older version with less features, can be downloaded from Steam for free.



More News : Sometime over the weekend Garry’s Mod surpassed one million sales!

I know this isn’t exactly Minecraft’s 10 million 2.9 million – but this is a pretty big deal for me considering this all started off as a tiny tiny modification about 6 years ago. This is more than I could have ever expected or wished for!

Even though my name is on the Mod there are a lot of people that have helped out over the years – and GMod wouldn’t be where it is now without them. Particularly Valve & Steam – which made Garry’s Mod technically feasible – namely Erik J, Alfred, Jason H and Mike D. There have been countless contributors to Garry’s Mod over the years – whether it be people directly editing the code, submitting bug reports and fixes, creating mods, movies, screenshots, comics. Far too many people for me to name here.


More news! :Last night’s Source engine update has broken Garry’s Mod. I say this every time – but don’t be mad at Valve about this. This is just the price we’re paying for being on the latest and greatest version of the Source engine. The alternative is to be stuck on an older version of the engine – which I don’t think anyone wants.

I’m looking into making an update and hope to have it out as soon as possible. This has hit a bit of a roadblock though because I can’t get my hands no the up to date interfaces from Valve at the moment. I will edit updates into this post as and when I have them. Maybe play TF2 for a few hours to fill the time?



Turns out that I’m missing VFileSystem019. Latest I have is VFileSystem017. Waiting on a reply from Valve.



Valve replied. Hopefully sending me the files I need to get this ♥♥♥♥ fixed.. no ETA.

Got what I need. Going to work on it now.
