Darth passed away in the summer of 2017. He will be missed

If you want to connect to the Left 4 Dead servers without changing your launch options, you can just enter

sv_search_key "darthsailor"

in console. This will only be in affect for the session. Once you exit the game you'll have to do it again next time you go into the game.

We've now got an L4D2 server up and running. It's running on it's own machine, but needs a little upgrading which I'm working on. Currently, changling maps takes a little time so be patient. As always, the rcon_password is available on request.

We will be loading a bunch of custom maps on the server now that we know this works. If there's any you want, you can post them here or get in touch with me directly.

Well it's finally working! You can start up the game, create a lobby, then start the game and if the server's free you should go right to it.

All you have to do is open up your games list, right click on L4D, select "Properties", then "Set launch options...". From there a dialog box will open up and you enter:

+sv_search_key "darthsailor"

This has to be the FIRST thing entered or it doesn't seem to work.
