Hi, It's been a minute since we had a chat, but time is finite, innit?

Yeah, uh, whoops.



Well, I got better hardware. Again.

From an AMD A10 4600M APU + Radeon HD 7660G to an i5 7200U + GeForce 940MX and now an i7 10750H + RTX 3060.

Granted it's still a laptop but it's probably more future-proofed than anything else I've gotten thus far so I can at least play the game now.

The 940MX lappy was short-lived since Housewarming kinda just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game performance... or rather just the whole game (IMO)...

Despite the upgrade, its really jarring I can play ♥♥♥♥ like MW2019 on Ultra with no issues at all but PD2 still continues to bring any and all hardware to its knees, lol.

Diesel at its finest, I guess.



Well...

You see, when I balanced DMCWO, I made (and I say "made" loosely, all the heavy lifting was done by other modders better than I) and updated it with Pre-Housewarming game balance in mind. The breakpoints, player skills, etc.

Then of course, the infamous (to me at least) Housewarming update rolled out, with it's "add more ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ zeros to the end of enemy damage/HP values" and "make more difficulties to overtake the powercreep instead of just nerfing said powercreep" and "murder DMC's fps" that pretty much killed my desire to mod the game.

Future updates would only add to the issue at its worst or do nothing improve on it at its best.

All in all, and I'm sorry Overkill, love working with you (also admittedly I haven't been doing what you brought me on board for with the voluntary QA stuff and such, sorry) ♥♥♥♥ vanilla balance and its affinity for pointlessly big numbers, and I say this as an active Warframe player.

I figure you know where this announcement is going at this point, but to properly answer "where's the update?"....

The most I could muster for Housewarming back then (and I'm unsure if I even released said update containing it) was to just slap a +40% damage multiplier to all forms of damage done by the player as a means to make DMCWO's weapons that were using OG breakpoints maybe work
the new Housewarming environment.

I just don't have the know how to work with vanilla balance while not just bloating up the numbers on my end.

That said, another group of modders do (IMO) by... way of just reverting the damage done, lol.

If you've been paying attention to my recent activity, you might have noticed I hopped onto the Resmod team and have been making the mod they've built from their blood, sweat and tears worse with each contribution I make have been doing some regular contributions to the mod.

Their big 12.0 update is still a WIP but the Resmod team, true to their name (IMO), have largely restored game balance to be something much closer to pre-Housewarming levels.
No more hilariously tanky non-special enemies that dish out 80+ damage at all ranges, no more getting ganked with 80+ enemy spawns that ruin your framerate and overall reduced powercreep across the board, for both player and AI alike.

If you do decide to give Resmod a try, do read the guide. First and foremost, the mod utilizes it own matchmaking key, so you can't play it with non-Resmod players unfortunately, new enemy units and all that don't work too nicely with non-users. It also uses its own save, but it's possible to convert your regular save to work with Resmod, just be sure to back things up.



Well, that about sums it all up. Again, sorry if this isn't the announcement you've been hoping for over the past 5 years but I hope you'll give Resmod a chance.
