The Crystal Empire Fire Department (CEFD) promotes fire safety, provides emergency care, and extinguishes fires.

On Earth, we are a private fire department based in the United States. We assist other U.S. fire departments and respond to natural disasters by order of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Steam users who are interested in what we do, on Earth and here in the Crystal Empire, will have a chance to be updated with local fire/EMS related news (U.S. only), special events, and emergency alerts for some areas in the U.S. If you are interested in any of the following, then we encourage you to join this group. This is NOT a roleplay (RP) group.

What We Do: Fire Prevention
The Fire Prevention Bureau is a critical component of the Crystal Empire Fire Department's effort to protect the ponies of the Crystal Empire against the loss of life and property through its enforcement of the Municipal Fire Codes. The Fire Prevention Bureau has four area offices: North, South, West and Central. These offices conduct general inspections of businesses, schools, hotels, public places of assembly, and high-rise occupancies within their geographic boundaries. Inspections are done on an annual basis to insure that each entity complies with all required fire codes.

What We Do: Operations
The Bureau of Operations is the CEFD’s largest bureau, with a ponynel strength of more than 4,500 uniformed firefighters and paramedics, many of whom are “cross-trained” in the use of nearly 250 pieces of equipment and apparatus, including fire engines, fire trucks, ambulances, squads, helicopters and marine equipment. The Bureau receives more than 500,000 calls per year for emergency assistance, and responds to fires, medical emergencies, hazardous material incidents and other emergency situations, to ensure the safety and well being of Crystal Empire residents and the 28 million visitors who pass through the Crystal Empire’s international airport.

The Bureau of Operations consists of four divisions: Fire Suppression and Rescue, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Special Operations and the Office of Fire Investigations (OFI).

Firework Safety for July 4th

Each July 4th, thousands of people, most often children and teens, are injured while using consumer fireworks. The National Fire Protection Association has provided information on the dangers of consumer fireworks, and how to be safe this July 4th.

Firefighters, Always Wear Your Turnout Gear!

This is for you firefighters out there.

I found an article on Firehouse.com on how a fire chief has issued notices to 22 firefighters in his department for not wearing full turnout gear while on scene at a high-rise fire. The firefighters claimed they were not wearing their full gear because it was "too heavy, uncomfortable, and extremely hot."

What's more important, comfort, or you life? I just want to point out that no matter what fire you are responding to, always wear your full turnout gear. Being in the fire and EMS service, I understand that turnout gear is heavy and may feel odd to wear at times, trust me I wear it every time I train. But understand it's going to protect you, you wear it to keep you safe. In any department, they don't want their firefighters getting hurt. Please, always wear your turnout gear so you are able to do your job.

Today being 9/11, id like to thank those serving on the police force, fire department services, paramedic forces, and the military for the work they do. I personally am from Manhattan and though i was too young to remember the event at the time, not remembering something does not mean it did not happen. To any who lost relatives or friends due to the trafedy, i am sorry for your loss and may whoever you percieve as a god (if you do) bless you.
