Since the official reveal of Battlefield 4 beta access through Medal of Honor: Warfighter first print, EA has confirmed that there will be other ways to access the beta, but it seems being a Premium member isn’t one of them.

When asked whether Battlefield 3′s premium members will be granted access to the Battlefield 4 beta, the official Battlefield Twitter account stated, “Premium members will not have access to the Beta for Battlefield 4, but there are certainly other ways to get it!”

Also, in response to the same fan, the representative added, ”there will be other ways, but at this time that is the only way to get it,” referring to beta access included in Medal of Honor: Warfighter Limited and Deluxe Editions.

Another representative, drilled on whether Premium players will have access or not, clarified, “Right now, the only way to guarantee access is to preorder Medal of Honor Warfighter.”

A few weeks ago, DICE revealed that Premium had reached 800,000 members within the first two weeks on the market.

Keep in mind, this piece is labelled “report” as this is in no way official confirmation since many different EA representatives handle Battlefield’s official Twitter account.

"A person's day-to-day life should take precedence over any form of entertainment," says Blizzard.

Blizzard has called on gamers to play in moderation after an 18-year-old died following an uninterrupted 40 hour Diablo 3 session.

Taiwanese teenager Chuang, booked a private room at an internet café in Tainan, southern Taiwan, at noon on Friday 13th July and played for nearly two days without eating, the United Daily News (via The Australian, via the Australian Associated Press) reported.

On Sunday 15th July a worker at the café checked on Chuang, who was resting on a table. After the attendant woke him, he stood, took a few steps then collapsed. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a local hospital.

The cause of death is unknown, but police, who are carrying out an autopsy, speculated that being sat down for so long created cardiovascular problems.

Blizzard responded to the news by issuing a statement recommending players prioritise their day-to-day life over "any form of entertainment".

"We're saddened to hear this news, and our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time. We don't feel it would be appropriate for us to comment further without knowing all of the circumstances involved.

"While we recognise that it's ultimately up to each individual or their parent or guardian to determine playing habits, we feel that moderation is clearly important, and that a person's day-to-day life should take precedence over any form of entertainment."

As The Australian points out, this is the second death in Taiwan from playing video games this year. In February a man in New Taipei was found dead in a chair facing a computer after a 23 hour session. He died of cardiac arrest.

COO could replace John Riccitiello.

Peter Moore may be set to replace John Riccitiello as CEO of EA. Moore is currently EA’s Chief Operating Officer (a position he stepped into back in 2011), but a new report on GameFront indicates that he’ll soon be promoted.

According to the report, an anonymous source “close to the matter” says that current CEO Riccitiello will be asked to step down following the company’s July 30th first quarter earnings call. The change is reportedly due to EA’s falling stock prices and a “general feeling of tension” among the company’s studios.

Riccitiello has served as CEO since 2007. In his time as CEO, EA has launched Origin and unveiled the Online Pass. Riccitiello most recently commented that he expects EA to transition to an all-digital business model in the future.

For now, GameFront’s source notes that the change of CEOs hasn’t been finalized and is still subject to a vote before being approved. We’ve reached out to EA for a comment on the story and will update with any additional information they provide.
