Boreal Network Fan Club

Boreal Network is Nicole Johnson's musical love letter to the life she has known, which began in 1986 in Minnesota's Twin Cities, and all the precious mental junk she's accumulated in that time. As a musical project, BN was catalyzed around 2004 when a heavily Boards-of-Canada-inspired Nicole began to compose music with more focused style and imagery than before. But the soul of BN is more than just the time-washed warbles of the original inspiration - BN is a fiercely personal project and the acid test for any element used is that it be near and dear to the heart of the artist. As a result, many unforseen influences are pulled in - from the joys of Minnesota's vast natural landscape to the turbulent inner world of Nicole's neuroses and phobias - from stacks of educational PC game diskettes to balmy summer evenings in a field with dad's telescope pointed at the stars. Nicole intends that Boreal Network will grow and change along with her since, after all, childhood is only the beginning.
