there's no fix to that, or maybe I don't know how to fix but what you can do is that you can use propper++ (It comes with hammer++), it can turn brush into a prop and if geometry of your prop isn't too complex hitboxes will be almost perfect

which is kindof silly given that this is a group specifically about blender source tools. my models are significantly more complex than just hammer brushes can even create, thats the entire point of them being models. and also model animations.

this is an issue i keep having, wondering if theres an easy fix or setting i can change in the blender source tools (or if its a .qc or crowbar compiler thing.)

say i have a 1-meter cube in blender that i want to be 128 hammer units big. If i export the smd correctly for it, assuming my qc is setup correctly with at the very top and there are no problems with my model, in hammer editor the cube will often end up as having a 128.5 unit "hitbox"/bounds, even though the geometry itself is exactly 128 units as desired. i am compiling my models with crowbar's model compiler feature.

any way to prevent the extra padding in the model's scale?

since the error is a print statement thats probably not useful for me, i was able to fix it myself by replacing the print with a simple string within the file:

Blender 4.1 has broken sharp edges, so use 4.0 or below.

not technically broken, just moved. the auto smoothing has been replaced with a modifier called "smooth by angle" or something.

try adding
$maxconvexpieces 50 (or some even bigger number)


by default, the limit of individual pieces a collision model has is 20, and if there are more than that, then it just falls back to shrinkwrapping the mesh as one big convex piece.. but that can be overridden to be significantly more.

this happens because in blender 4.1 they removed the auto smoothing and turned it into a modifier called "smooth by angle."
